>>Jordan's POV<<

I saw the two kids bounding out of the school, jumping happily next to each other and grinning. I shot them both a smile and waved my hand as I leaned against my car.

Evangeline saw me first, running towards me and hugging one of my legs and Finn followed slowly behind, a look of reluctance present on his face.

"Mom said that daddy was picking us up," he said skeptically, readjusting his backpack hanging off his shoulders.

Oh, shit. Do they not know that I'm their dad yet? I thought, panicking. Well, that would be hard to explain...

"There was a last minute switch up," I said quickly, grinning as I ruffled his hair, which looked exactly like mine.

He flinched and murmured something under his breath before moving out of the way and entering the backseat of the car.

Evangeline let go of my leg shortly after and said with her eyebrows furrowed, "I don't get why he doesn't like you Jordy, you and him are really alike."

I just shoved my hands into the pockets of the dress pants Isabell made me wear and shrugged. "Maybe he'll warm up to me," I said, guiding her into the car as Finn was fiddling with his thumbs, playing on his Nintendo DS.

"Maybe," she said, pouting slightly.

I climbed into the driver's seat, turning the engine on. "Ready, guys?"

Evangeline cheered as Finn muttered quietly, "Can you guys be quiet? I'm beating the Elite Four right now."

I grinned at his response. Just like me. I thought before backing out of the parking lot.

Halfway through the car ride, I grew tired of singing the repetitive Disney tunes that Evangeline and I sang along to. I turned off the radio as she whined.

"Jordy," she pleaded. "Why'd you turn it off?"

I raised an eyebrow as I chuckled slightly. "Jordy? Where'd you get that from?" I laughed, tipping my head back slightly.

"Isn't it cute?" she squealed, jumping in her seat.

"Careful, don't hurt yourself," I instinctively warned her, still eyeing her in the mirror.

She sat down, folding her arms and blowing her bangs out of her face. "You sound like daddy," she muttered.

I opened my mouth slightly, but closed it as I glued my eyes to the road, gripping the steering wheel. "How was your school day, guys?" I asked, trying to steer the conversation away.

"It was good," Finn replied, finally focusing on something other than his Pokemon game. "Ms. Hall gave us each a golden star during snack time."

"Really? Why is that?" I asked.

"Because mommy packed us both healthy foods," Evangeline said proudly.

I nodded. That sounds like something Aspen would do. I thought.

"Where are we even going? This isn't the way home," Finn said, sounding slightly annoyed. "I'm only six, and I know the way from school."

"We're actually going to my house," I replied, fidgeting in the driver's seat slightly.

Evangeline squealed, grabbing her brother's arm as he groaned, leaning back against his seat and closing his DS.

"Why," he groaned. "What are we even going to do there?"

"Well, we could play video games, maybe, if you'd like," I suggested, unsure of what to say.

"Video games?" he perked up. He paused slightly before continuing. "What kind of games do you have?"

--

"Man, Finn, you're good at this!" I said, attempting to lighten the awkward silence as Finn played Borderlands 2.

He mumbled something incoherently as the doorbell suddenly rang. That must be Aspen. I thought, getting up from the couch.

I opened the door, absentmindedly fixing my hair and straightening out the shirt I was wearing.

I opened the door, revealing the familiar red-haired girl hunched over her phone. As she looked up, her eyes caught mine, although she immediately looked away and stepped inside.

"I'm here to pick up the kids," she said simply and monotonously. "Where are they?"

"Um, I think Evangeline's in the bathroom right now, and Finn's in the living room," I replied, following her as she walked into the room Finn was playing video games in.

"Hey, baby," she said easily, "Ready to go home?" Her eyes flickered to the screen, gasping slightly before turning around and glaring at me.

"Jordan! Why are you letting him play that game! He's only six!" She hissed, swinging back around and taking Finn's controller from him.

"Mom!" he whined. "I was playing that!"

"Finn, get Evangeline, we're going home," she said, ignoring his plea.

"Fine," he grumbled, heading down the hallway.

Once he was out of earshot, she whipped around, her face plastered with mild frustration.

"Jordan! Are you crazy! You can't let a six year old play a game like that!" She scorned quietly, not wanting the kids to hear.

"Hey! I'm sorry! He said he wanted to play it!" I defended myself, holding my palms up. "I didn't do anything!"

She rolled her eyes as she turned around to face the room. "God, it's a mess in here," she mumbled, immediately grabbing the scattered magazines around the room and putting them in a pile.

"What are you doing?" I questioned, stepping forward slightly.

"Cleaning," she replied, putting the couch cushions into place.

"This isn't even your place," I said, furrowing my eyebrows.

She stepped back taking in a deep breath. "I know, it's just, I can't stand messy areas."

I nodded as the patter of feet echoed around the hallway, the two twins emerging, arms linked together.

"Did you guys have fun?" she said, her mood immediately lifting as she hugged both of them when they bounded up to her.

Evangeline nodded as Finn shrugged. "Ready to go home?" she asked.

They nodded and began to wave goodbye to me, but I quickly intervened. "Why don't you guys just stay for dinner? I mean, Isabell's making pasta," I tried to say casually, wanting Aspen to stay a little longer.

"Um," she hesitated, before Evangeline spoke up.

"Please, mom! Please!" she pleaded, pouting her face and hugging her leg. "Please, please, please, mommy!"

She sighed before finally agreeing. "I'm going to call Mitch so he can eat with us, too."

I nodded, smiling lightly. Such wife material. I thought.

--

"What do you mean they're staying over?!" Isabell hissed. "Why did you even let the little brats stay here after they came home from potty training or whatever?!"

I bristled in anger as the words left her mouth before taking a deep breath. "Come on, Is, please! You always make a crap ton of pasta, and they aren't brats, they came home from school!"

"Ugh! God, Jordan! You drive me crazy sometimes!" She muttered under her breath as she walked back towards the kitchen.

I followed her shortly afterwards, Aspen setting a napkin down on Finn's lap.

"Alright!" I said after all the dishes were set down onto the table. "Let's dig in, shall we?"

Before any of us even lifted our forks, Finn tentatively said, "Daddy, can you pass the cheese?"

I immediately reached out for the cheese, but of course, so did Mitch.
