>>JORDAN'S POV<<

I slammed the car door forcefully, muttering curses under my breath. Ever since I witnessed Mitch and Aspen the night before, agreeing on a relationship, I was in an irritable mood.

She asked me to pick up Evangeline and Finn again, most likely wanting to spend time within her new relationship, which annoyed me for a reason I couldn't comprehend.

I knew I couldn't have developed feelings for her, I've rarely even talked or been in her presence for longer than an hour or so before she left. Also, the fact that I was happily married took the possibilty away.

Well, I say happily.

Isabell was pretty and a decent wife, but if I had the chance to rethink our marriage, I would definitely take it, despite my mother's constant pressuring to make me settle down finally.

I kicked around a pebble for a few seconds until I heard the familiar voice of Evangeline bounding over towards me.

"Jordy!" she yelped, running towards me, Finn eyeing me and trailing slowly behind.

"Hi," I greeted, my tone flat and uninterested.

"Jordy! I got a gold star today!" she giggled, jumping up and down, her happiness and joy annoying me as my mood was as excited as the pile of dog poop I passed earlier today.

"Good job," I sighed, sounding exasperated.

Finn finally walked up to the both of us, his bag nearly falling off his shoulder.

He shot me a sort of strange look, as if noticing my mood was fluctuating today. We all climbed into the car, Evangeline still oblivious to my gradually increasing bad mood as she continued to ramble on about her day.

"And then Mrs. Hanley told me I looked really nice in my dress today, and mommy always said to say 'thank you,' to people who compliment you, so I said--"

"Do you ever shut up, Evangeline?!" I finally snapped, immediately regretting the words that came out of my mouth the moment they did.

I glanced at the mirror, seeing her shocked face slowly tearing up before she nodded and muttered a small apology.

Finn's mouth was slightly open, his eyes wide. His expression hardened before saying monotonously, "Mommy was right about you."

I furrowed my eyebrows at his words. What the hell is that supposed to mean? I thought incredulously, although I kept my mouth shut.

We finally arrived at my house, my knuckles white and painful due to gripping the steering wheel extremely tightly.

I opened Evangeline's door, but she quickly climbed out through Finn's doorway before running towards the house. The door was conveniently unlocked, allowing Evangeline to stumble inside, almost tripping.

I sighed, shaking my head, disappointed with myself. "God damn it, Jordan... You just yelled at your kid," I muttered under my breath, slamming the car door shut with such force that it rocked.

I saw Finn timidly step into the house as I entered shortly after, closing the door behind me.

I heard the bathroom door shut in the distance, and I assumed it was Evangeline, since she seemed to make a beeline to get away from me as fast as possible.

I sighed as I turned towards Finn, but I watched him flinch as my gaze landed on him and he walked to the TV where he continued Borderlands where he left off, sitting on the couch, inching as far away from me as he could.

I went into the bedroom, flopping down onto the bed, groaning loudly into the pillow. About an hour passed before I finally moved, turning around to face the ceiling. Isabell was out with her friend, obviously not wanting to be around when the twins were here.

How the hell could this day get any worse? I thought, before the doorbell rang throughout the house. I absolutely hated it when strangers or neighbors came to the door unannounced.

I walked through the hallway slowly before opening the door harshly and saying rudely, "What do you want?!"

But what I saw was somebody I should have guessed, it was Aspen.

"God damn, Jordan. Who gave you a wedgie for breakfast?" she said. "Anyways, I'm here for Finn and Evangeline." She was dressed in her nurse's scrubs, raising her eyebrows at me when I opened the door and so nicely yelled in her face.

"Why don't you just go back to spending time with Mitch," I mumbled grumpily, thinking she didn't hear as she walked past me. Goddammit, Jordan, why were you so upset over Mitch and her? She was allowed to date people. Just not Mitch.

She stopped abruptly, turning around and narrowing her eyes. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Oh god.

"Well I'm guessing that's what you were doing, huh?" I snapped back at her. "Taking the day off to spend with lover boy, isn't that right?"

She crossed her arms and started to look angry. "Excuse me, Jordan, but I was actually at fucking work, thank you very much. The fact that I let you take them was because I was working overtime to support my children, unlike your YouTube shit!" she hissed. "I was not spending time with Mitch, dipshit."

I immediately felt a twinge of guilt take over as I murmured a soft, "oh."

She rolled her eyes and walked towards the source of noise the kids were making, and I followed her from a distance, not wanting to annoy her.

"Hey, kids, ready to go home?" she said sweetly, smiling and leaning down to meet their eye level. "Mommy bought donuts."

"You were right about him, mommy," Finn murmured, glancing at me. My eyes widened. Oh, shit.

"He yelled at Evangeline in the car," he said quietly, eyeing me as Evangeline looked up at me, clearly terrified and embarrassed. Oh, shit. I was screwed.

Aspen suddenly shot up and whirled around towards me. "What?!" she hissed.
