>>ASPEN'S POV<<

When I was nine, I witnessed my Dad hitting my mother. I told myself that I would never, ever, let myself stand by when someone I loved was being abused, whether it be verbally or physically. Even mentally. I have been through too much pain to let any more people I loved be abused in any way, shape, or form.

I always had to say something.

"You. Did. What?!" My voice rose with every word, and I saw Evangeline and Finn scurry out the door to the unlocked car. "I do not care what the hell happened to you, but you never, ever, yell at my children. Ever.

"I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me..." Jordan became quieter. "I guess that..."

"You guess what? You wanted to be in my kid's lives, one thing you'll learn is to never yell at my children in any way, shape, or form. I do not care if they murdered your fucking wife, you will not yell at my children. In my eyes, you are not their parent." I knew I was getting fired up, but Jordan, even if he was their father, had no right to yell at Evangeline.

"What did Finn mean by "you were right about me?" He was slowly getting temperamental, but so was I, and a bitchy, pissed off from work Aspen, is one Jordan does not want to deal with.

"Oh, please. You don't want to be in the kids lives. You're just here so your wife Isabell can see that you're obviously a good person and you want to do something with your fucking life besides play video games. I was not spending the day with Mitch, I was working overtime to support my fucking kids, and I'm not sure if you understand what the word overtime means, since you have all the time in the fucking world on your hands!"

My phone rang, and I pulled it out of my pant's pocket, and it was Mitch. Great timing.

"Hello?" I answered snippily, really not wanting to deal with Mitch or anybody right now.

"I'm bringing you and the kids some dinner. We can make some chicken together and have another movie night. You're normally home by now, right?" Mitch normally calmed me down, but right now, I would rather not deal with him one bit.

"Jordan yelled at Evangeline, so basically it's like I'm scolding Finn for watching a movie he shouldn't be." I scoffed at him, watching his expression harden, as he crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. I raised my eyebrows at him, waiting Mitch's response.

"Jordan is a good guy, he wouldn't do that," Mitch began, but I cut him off sharply.

"He sure did to Evangeline. I'll be home in 20 minutes, let me deal with this."

"I love you." He replied quieter. "I can begin on dinner if I get back first."

"Alright. I love you too." I hung up, and faced Jordan. "I am going to say this once. If you ever, ever, yell at my children again, there will be hell to pay." I turned on my heel to leave, when Jordan opened his mouth to speak.

"You love Mitch?" There was a sharp edge to his voice, and I snapped around.

"Yes, I do. I love Mitch, and I don't understand what the huge deal was if I was spending time with my boyfriend. It's been a long time, and I'm finally ready to settle down. If you have a problem with that, suck it up, because you don't hear me saying anything about when your wife's next botox appointment is. I'm sorry, but I have children to get back to, and dinner to make. And if you want to see your children again, watch what you fucking say."

"Do you always swear like that around them?" He raised his eyebrows at me. "Not good for them."

"Don't go judging my parenting when you weren't the one with the children for six years." I turned around yet again. "I was the one who dropped out of school to raise them. I was the one who endured the shame from my family of a teenage pregnancy. I was the one who left my entire life behind to raise the most beautiful children in the world, while you were busy doing god knows what."
