I watched as his eyes grazed over Evangeline and Finn chasing each other around the gazebo. They slowly flickered to me, eyes unblinking along with a blank expression.

“Fuck,” I muttered quietly. “Shit,” I continued, slightly louder.

“Mommy said a bad word!” Finn gasped his small hand flying to his mouth before running away from his sister again.

He pursed his lips, his eyebrows furrowing and his forehead creasing as his fists clenched tightly. He looked incredibly intimidating, that I did exactly what I had done when I had learned about the pregnancy.

I ran.

I caught Evangeline and Finn’s tiny wrists as they came dashing around the park bench, and pulled them along the sidewalk, hoping that the mystery father would either not care enough, or be in too much shock to follow.

“Aspen!” a deep voice growled loudly, followed by a forceful grab on my arm. I turned around as the grip tightened, Jordan’s face directly in front of mine as his spare hand was grasped onto Faye’s arm. “Care to fucking explain?!”

Jordan was clearly beyond livid, and I opened my mouth to say something when Evangeline’s voice interrupted me.

“Why is he mad? He’s scary when he’s mad,” she said bluntly, grasping my wrist and hiding behind my leg.

Jordan’s expression softened slightly, his gaze lingering over the twins again. He shook his head and tipped his head back as he slightly laughed.

"This is a joke, right? Your name isn't even Aspen, is it?" he said, shaking his head. "How'd this TV show I'm guessing I'm on even find out about the one single one-night stand I ever had?"

He backed away slightly, both relief and hesitation lingering on his face. As he walked farther and farther back away from me, my expression blank, he paused.

"Because I did not have children at eighteen," he laughed. "Those are not my kids."

I finally opened my mouth slightly and stepped forward, urging Evangeline and Finn to go run around again. As they took off, I stepped slightly towards him. "Jordan..."

He shook his head. "No, listen here, Aspen, or whatever the hell your name is, this joke is over, okay? Jokes aside, I'm just going to leave now." He turned around quickly, walking along the sidewalk with his neice by his side.

"Do you still remember that night?" I urged, fiddling with my fingers. He stopped abruptly, not facing me, but I continued anyways. "Because in all honesty, I don't."

He slowly turned around, a look of reluctance present on his face.

"You have my virginity you know," I gulped, not moving. "A drunk one-night stand, then a pregnancy. So it had to have been yours; the twins are yours."

He opened his mouth and scoffed after a few moments. "Your show does a lot of research, doesn't it?" he said, standing his ground. "The twins were a nice touch, you know. Really freaked me out for a bit."

"Jordan--" I began.

"Jordan! There you are, sweetie!" a feminine voice said behind me, a flash of blonde hair whirling past me and walking towards Jordan.

She placed a delicate kiss on his cheek before turning towards me and asking with an annoyed look on her face, "Who the hell are you?"

What did you expect? Him to be single? I thought, quiet as the blonde bimbo began to grow impatient.

"Oh, um--" I tried to explain.

"No one, she's no one, honey," he said as she slid her hand into his.

I grew slightly annoyed with her affection towards him and his reply, so I plastered on a sweet smile and said, "Actually, Jordan and I are old friends, we go way back. Why don't you tell her about us, Jordan?" His face quickly drained of color, his eyes widening slightly.

"Um, uh--" he fumbled. Don't think it's a TV show now, huh, Jordan?

"I don't really give a shit, you know," she cut in. "Just back off from my husband, bitch."

My eyebrow raised at her words. Like I said, what did you expect after almost seven years?

"Hey, Aspen, where are the kids?" a familiar voice said behind me, a pair or arms snaking around my waist along with a peck on my cheek.

"Don't worry, I didn't plan on busting a move on Mr. Beard over there," I shot back to the bimbo, smirking as I leaned back against Mitch.
