Chapter 13: June 10, 2012 3:05AM Daniel’s POV

“Daniel? What are…? Where am I?”

I closed the box holding the ring, and threw it on the ground next to me. I jumped up to be by her bedside. Bonnie woke up… Bonnie actually woke up. I could contain the tears flowing from my eyes, but this time they were happier tears. It was such a relieving feeling…

“Bonnie…” I whispered. “I’m sorry… I love you.”

“Where am I? Oh my gosh, my head is pounding… what happened?”

“Please don’t worry about that right now. I will tell you everything later, I promise. You’re in the hospital but you are going to be perfectly fine. The doctor told me you could go home in a couple of days…” I was cut off by my tears. It was hard to speak.

“How are you feeling?” I asked, brushing her hair behind her ears.

“Awful, like I just got hit by a truck.”

Bad choice of words.

“Are you tired? Hungry? Thirsty? Can I get you anything?”

“Lay down with me?”

Bonnie moved over to make room for me. These hospital beds were bigger than I thought but they certainly weren’t comfortable. Anything was better than that noisy old chair in the corner. She cuddled into my chest and I played with her hair, hoping it would relax her a little bit.

“Daniel?” she asked. I could tell she was tired. I couldn’t blame her; she’s been through a lot these past few days.

“Yeah babe?” I replied.

“What were you doing earlier?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well I heard you talking and crying, and then as soon as I called your name…” she trailed off.

“You’ll find out soon enough, now get some sleep.”

Bonnie was certainly looking much better. I knew she was still in a whole lot of pain but she was doing so much better than she was the other night. She was awake and soon enough she would be all mine. I kissed Bonnie’s forehead and after a few minutes, I finally got some decent sleep.

I woke up a few hours later and Bonnie was still asleep. I tried my hardest not to wake her up, but I needed to pee, desperately. As soon as I was out of that bed and I knew Bonnie was still asleep, I ran into the bathroom and took care of my little issue. The sound of the toilet flushing was loud and I hoped it didn’t wake Bonnie up. I washed my hands and walked back into Bonnie’s room. There were a few doctors in their just running some tests. Ya know, taking her temperature, checking her heart rate, the usual.

“Well she is definitely doing a lot better.” One of the doctors told me. I sighed with relief knowing that Bonnie was going to be okay.

“So when can she go home?” I asked.

“Whenever she’s ready.”

Who knew three little words could make me the happiest person on the planet? I wanted to get Bonnie out of here as soon as possible and have her focus on something happier than dying of boredom in a hospital. I still have to tell Bonnie’s mom! It was almost 9 in the morning and Bonnie’s mom still wasn’t here. I can’t say I’m not surprised. I decided to send her a quick text message.

“Bonnie woke up during the night, she’s asleep now though. Doctors said they can go home whenever she’s ready.”

I sat next to Bonnie’s bed and held her hand. A huge grin flashed across her face.

“How are you doing baby?” I asked, leaning over to kiss her forehead.

“What are you doing all the way over there?”

“I’m right here.” I chuckled. She shifted to one side of the bed, and patted the empty space next to her.

“But you should be right here.” She giggled, and slowly opened her eyes. I slowly lay down next to Bonnie and softly kissed her lips.

“Still tired?” I asked.

“Nope!” she exclaimed, rolling on top of me. It was nice to see she had so my energy, but I think she needed to take it easy for a little bit. Until she was completely healed at least. I couldn’t help blushing a little bit as she stared into my eyes. I could see she was blushing too. She leaned down and kissed me, running her fingers through my hair. I heard the door open and Bonnie pulled away as fast as she could and rushed to lie down next to me. I looked to see who walked in and of course, Bonnie’s mom.

“Am I interrupting something?” she asked.

I buried my head in my hands, hoping it would somehow save me from embarrassment. Bonnie and I both didn’t say anything, leaving an awkward tension in the room.

“How are you feeling, Bonnie?” her mom asked, breaking the silence.

“Better. I just want to go home.”

“I’ll go get your release forms.” Her mom said, leaving the room.

I turned my head towards Bonnie and just stared into her piercing blue eyes. I gently kissed her nose, and she let out a soft giggle. Her mom came back with two doctors, both instructing how to change Bonnie’s bandages. There wasn’t much to it, just wrap and tape. I think I could handle that. Another doctor wrote a prescription for pain medication, but they weren’t required. Only if Bonnie felt like she needed them, she could take one. Bonnie was strong, I don’t think she would need them.

I left Bonnie alone so she could change out of the hospital gown into regular clothes. The only clothes Bonnie had with her was her dress she was wearing the night of the accident. I gave her my gym shorts and one of my hoodies to wear. Good thing I brought back up clothes, I didn’t know how much longer I would be here and I loved how Bonnie looked in my clothes. Of course they were too big, but she looked so cute. She walked out of her room and the doctor brought out a wheelchair. Bonnie turned around to sit down, but I picked her up with one arm under her knees and one arm supporting her torso.

“That won’t be necessary.” I said to the doctor and carried Bonnie out of the hospital.
