"Thank goodness." Ally sighed when she noticed me sitting on the sofa, clutching her heart while the other girls entered the house behind her. Their hair was messy and they seemed incredibly relieved to see me sitting there.

"Hi," I said sheepishly as Lauren came to collect the now drained rabbit from my hands. She paused to smile proudly at me before pecking me on the lips and heading back to the kitchen.

"Shouldn't you be in the cellar?" Dinah asked cautiously as Ally went to help Lauren with all the blood stuff.

I sighed and nodded slowly, agreeing with her. "Probably. I'll go down there now."

I stood to head down to the dingy cellar, recognising now that it was for my own sake, but Lauren quickly came to my side and held my hand firmly.

"She's been sat there for a half hour and hasn't tried to escape at all." Lauren argued, "Plus, are you still hungry, baby?"

"Um... a little peckish, maybe."

"See? Not enough to go out and find someone though, right?" She continued.

"Right." I nodded, confused.

"I don't think she needs to go down there... ever. I think we've found a loophole." Lauren explained, "Vampires get addicted to human blood when we first turn, right? And then we drink our first human blood, which we all know makes that addiction last longer, but... Y/n never drank any. When I got to her, she was... she was probably about to die, but apart from that, she was acting like her usual self. I gave her a rabbit and she is still like her usual self. What if- what if we don't give her any human blood? I think the craving might take a while to go away but it won't affect the way she acts."

Ally's eyes widened, and Dinah and Normani frowned at one another.

"We only know as much as we know. There isn't exactly an online forum for real vampires. Others might have already figured this out, but there's no way of sharing it with all of us." Lauren continued.

"That all sounds relatively plausible, but we can't be sure." Normani interjects, "It would be in our best interests to keep Y/n contained until we can be sure."

"I agree." I breathed. I didn't want to be locked in the cellar, but I wanted even less to go out and hurt someone, as opposed to before when that's all I wanted to do.

"Well, I'm going with her then." Lauren declared, moving to open the cellar door.

"No, what? No. Lauren, I-" I argued in broken sentences, rushing to her side.

"Damn, you're fast." She commented with a small laugh, "But I am going down there with you. I'm certain that we'll only be down there a short while, and... I don't want you to be alone."

Overcome by her sweetness, I leaned in to kiss her, still surprised by how warm she felt. I knew it was only because I was now as cold as ice, but it felt like we were both alive. I loved it.

"Okay." I nodded, turning to see adoring expressions on each of the girls' faces.

"Ready?" Lauren asked, holding my hand. I nodded again and we headed down to the cellar, Dinah locking the door behind us.

"We'll come check on you both soon with some food!" She called, and Lauren nodded as she chewed on her lip.

"The last time we were both locked down here-" I began, but she interrupted me.

"I was trying to kill you." She said with a nervous chuckle.

"No, you weren't. You were curious about me." I corrected her with a similar small laugh, and then frowned, "Lauren, I love you so much. I know you feel bad for doing this to me, but I want you to know that I wasn't lying to you. I wanted this- and I still do. I want to spend forever with you, and if that means becoming something I didn't even know existed a year ago, then so be it."

She smiled softly and tightly hugged me before she sat against the wall.

"I love you too, baby." She smiled, patting the spot beside her. I sat down and leaned my head on her shoulder.

There was a moment of silence between us before I broke it with, "So..."

"So?"

"You have... a gift thingy, right?" I began, "Does that mean I'll have one too?"

Yet again, she laughed but quickly turned serious, despite the smile now plastered on her face.

"I don't know. It was weird that I got one, remember? I don't know if it'll be the same for you."

"I hope so. I don't want to be a boring, normal vampire." I poured, only partly joking.

"Hey! Normani and Dinah are boring, normal vampires!" She fought back with a giggle, but I frowned.

"Ally has a gift?"

"Yep." She nodded slowly, "She won't tell us what it is, but it's enough for her to be worshipped by an entire village instead of thought to be a witch."

"Well, just for the record, you're the coolest person who was mistaken for a witch that I've ever met." I grinned, pecking her cheek, "You're also the only person who was mistaken for being a witch that I've ever met, so..." I added with a cocky wink when she craned her neck to look down at me. Then I asked, "How do I find out if I have a gift?"

"It'll turn up when you least expect it." She shrugged, making me pout impatiently.

"It better be soon."

She laughed again and kissed me on the lips slowly, her hand raising to cup my cheek. Before I knew it, I was straddling her as we continued the kiss, my fingers raking through the hair at the sides of her head and tugging when she gently bites down on my bottom lip. My eyes began to heat up again, I assumed that meant they were changing colours, and I felt my grip tighten further on her hair.

"I love you." I breathed heavily, feeling my fangs grow out once again, but this time something felt different. My right hand came down to draw patterns on her cheek because she looked like she wasn't really there anymore. It was as though I was touching a hologram. She looked too soft, the light of the room too gentle in her skin for her to be real.

The words that came out of her mouth, though, were definitely real. Though quiet, they were distinct. Her gorgeous green eyes flickered between mine as she let the two small words past her lips slowly and under her breath.

"Fuck. Me."
