(QOTD: Where are you from?? xx)
"Do you remember me?" She asks hopefully.
"No, but I know exactly who you are."
"How?" She starts to question.
"Devan has explained some things to me." I turn to him with a smile on my face. He smiles back at me and my stomach flutters.
"What exactly has he explained?" She asks, with caution in her tone.
"I haven't gotten to any vivid details just yet." He explains, and once again I'm left confused.
This time I don't let it get to me.
The thing is, when I don't understand what is going on, the confusion and curiosity continuously eats at me until I can get answers.
"Oh alright." OakLeighs eyes squint, while she nods her head. Devan nods back to her.
Awkwardly, I stand in the middle of the room, alone. Devan and OakLeigh seem to be having a conversation with their eyes. I look around the room until somebody says something.
"D'you wanna go next door, Oak?" Devan suggests.
"I think that would be a great idea, Dev." She agrees with his suggestion.
They begin to make their way near the doorway.
"Wait." I stop them, "What exactly is next door?"
"You'll see." OakLeigh assures me.
No more questions are asked, not another sound is made as we walk to the house next door.
OakLeigh was able to get into the house without a key, because it looked to be unlocked. Even though I didn't pay much attention to that.
This house looked similar to Devans, yet slightly different. It was its own place.
My mind, that apparently was like a new mind, recognized something about this house. And I couldn't put my finger on it.
OakLeigh took my hand, led me into what looked to be the kitchen, then sat me down in a chair next to her. Devan soon entered the room as well, He sits down too.
We sit there in silence for a while and it gets boring,so I speak up
"What are we doing?" I question.
"Memories." OakLeigh states.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, that in my mind, I'm remembering the good times we spent in this house before all hell broke loose." She explains to me.
I process what she was trying to get at. Maybe she means that this was our house. I mean, it has to be otherwise she wouldn't have said what she just said.
"Did we live here?"
"We sure did." She concludes,
"I moved in next door a few months ago. It feels like I've been here all along though." Devan butts himself into our conversation.
"So much has happened since then." OakLeigh sits back, with a look of deep thinking on her face.
Silence takes over the room again.
It's not weird or uncomfortable, it is a calming silence. As if it was meant to be like this.
"You know," Devan starts, "they day I met you, I was a new kid in your school. Lost, scared, even shy. But you... you gave me a reason not to be. You were my friend just simply to be my friend." He stares at the ceiling and chuckles when he finishes taking.
