Damon and Elena

One hour, 27 minutes and 45 seconds. I counted every click from the clock on the wall as if it was to be the last one, and soon one of those would be. I stood in the middle of the awfully silent living room, watching my surroundings pass by in slow motion. Rose was staring at me pitifully, not agreeing at all with what I had decided to pull off but it didn't matter anymore. What was done, was done. Now all we had to do was wait.

There's nothing you can do to stop him. Whatever you do to escape Klaus, he will get his vengeance. Your friends, your family, and everyone you've ever loved.

I winced as I remembered the words Katherine had said to me in the tumb. Stefan had tried to convince me they weren't true, but I couldn't give myself the pleasure to risk that much. If I didn't do something, everyone I ever loved was going to die. Jeremy, Caroline, Bonnie, Stefan... even Damon I'd hate to lose at this point. I couldn't put them all in danger just because they wanted to protect me, so I did the only thing I thought I could do.

There was this vampire called Slater, who had spent his eternity learning as much information on vampirism, which is why Damon and his friend Rose had tried to contact him to learn more about Klaus. I thought that if there was someone who could help me figure out a way to save my loved ones from the Original vampires, that would be him. It took me some time but I convinced Rose to go with me to his house without telling the guys, who had insisted on their overprotective attitude. Unfortunately we were there too late: Slater's body laid on the floor with a stake on his heart, and his human girlfriend Alice crying on his body. This couldn't be the work of anyone else but Klaus, and a chill went down my spine to the thought soon many of my friends would find themselves in the same position.

Rose checked out Slater's computer and found that all of the data had been erased, but Alice showed us her that he always kept a copy of all his files in another hard drive. There I found enough information to bring Klaus's attention to me, in order to save everyone else. It seemed that the only way left was to surrender myself to him. That way he'd let my family and friends live.

And that's where I was, waiting for the impending doom to fall upon me. Alice looked at me carefully, likely blaming me for her boyfriend's death. Rose seemed nervous, but I had assured her Klaus wouldn't hurt her if I simply gave myself to him. What he would do to me scared the hell out of me, but what scared me the most was what he would do if I didn't comply his demands. With the peace that thought brought me, I sipped my glass of water and eyed the clock once more. 29 minutes 17 seconds.

"Ah!" I exclaimed almost dropping the glass to be shatter in pieces on the floor. Two blue orbs stared at me intensely, merely inches apart from my face. Damon had walked in the property unannounced and now he stood right in front of me blocking the door with a thunderous expression I've never seen from him.

"What are you doing here?" I heard his husky voice while I couldn't break our eye contact. I felt paralyzed.

"What are you doing here?" I countered quickly as I tried to come back to my senses.

In that moment I felt light as air footsteps coming closer to me. I slowly turned around and found Rose's eyes looking at me guiltily. I huffed in annoyance realizing she had messed up my plan. She had snitched to Damon. "You called him?" I said feeling indignant and mostly betrayed. I thought she understood me.

Alice seemed shocked to see Damon, but he wasn't in the mood to catch up so he asked Rose to get rid of her and leave us alone. I looked at them doing as they were told quietly before turning back around with my arms folded on my chest and a piercing look that had no effect whatsoever on the vampire in front of me.

"Come on. We're leaving" Damon spoke in a cold commanding voice that gave no room for argument. BuI had other plans.

"No" I stated firmly not moving an inch from my spot.
