"YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO KANTO TOMORROW!" Hau waved his arms in a panic, pleading with Moon. His movements sort of reminded her of a windmill. "THERE'S STILL SO MUCH WE HAVEN'T DONE TOGETHER!"
Moon was busy packing for her long trip. Next to her lay a pile of clothes that was slowly diminishing as she folded them into her travel pack. Mimikyu, one of her Pokémon, was wandering around the room, periodically bringing her random items that it thought she might need. She smiled every time this happened, thanking her partner for being so helpful. Hau caught sight of Mimikyu's faded, scribbled-on eyes and broke visual contact. Although he loved all Pokémon, he couldn't deny the fact that Mimikyu's raggedy appearance gave him chills.
"I won't be gone forever," Moon assured him, taking a slight break from packing so she could swoop down to Mimikyu's aid. It had been carrying a hairbrush towards her before tumbling face-first off of the bed. She readjusted it's disguise, as it had almost snagged on her bedpost, before turning back towards Hau. "Besides, you could always-"
Hau interrupted her. How long she'd be gone, he wasn't sure. All he knew is that he didn't want to see her go. "DEEP SEA DIVING, ROCK CLIMBING, MALASADA EATING– no, wait. We've already done that last one. Many, many times... BUT WE CAN DO IT AGAIN."
"HAU," Moon grabbed him by the shoulders. "Calm down and let me finish what I was going to say." She took a deep breath and reorganized her thoughts. Mimikyu had just brought her a book from her bookshelf and she realized that she had never read before. She wiped a thin layer of dust from it, smiling. "Hau, why don't you just come with me?"
Hau went silent for a moment, which was a rare sight. Then, a bright grin forming on his face, he gave a happy shout. "That sounds... AMAZING! I'll have to ask my Mom first, but I'm sure she'll let me come once she finds out the Champion of Alola will be there."
Hau headed towards the door before stopping. He turned his head towards Moon. "Wait... being Champion is like your job. How are you going to be the Champion if you're worlds away?"
Moon, her gaze resting towards the floor, conjured a solemn smile. "I'm giving up the title."
"WHAT? But you're like the most famous person in all of Alola! Being Champion has been your dream since the beginning! Why are you giving it up?" Hau was extremely confused now as he walked back towards her.
Moon laughed slightly. "Our– my dream was to have the adventure of a lifetime. Originally, that dream was set in Kanto. But, my plans changed and I wound up here, in Alola. I brought that dream with me and now my adventure here is over. It's been over for awhile now." She looked up at Hau. "It's time for the next one."
"Have you told Lillie yet?" Hau asked her.
"Well, I already figured that you'd want to come, so I was actually planning on asking her to join us once I've finished packing." She looked down and saw the pile of miscellaneous objects that Mimikyu had brought her. "Though, I'm not sure when that'll be."
"Leave that to me, Moon!" Hau proclaimed happily as he walked back towards the door and opened it. "I'll tell her! You can count on me!" He shut the door behind him, leaving Moon to sort through Mimikyu's suggestion box of a pile.
Hau drew out a hot breath as he looked towards the night sky, sighing once he was sure he was out of earshot. "What will Gladion say when he finds out?"
Chapter 2 will be out soon.
