Frightful Whispers

The rooms weren't as "thrilling" as Moon had imagined them to be. She was expecting something along the lines of candle-lit chandeliers and red rooms with torn curtains and bed sheets. This was Lavender Town, after all, and it was drifting awfully close to Halloween. Instead, all they got were brown rooms with black carpets, new-looking black curtains, and completely normal, non-candle lit ceiling fans. Yep, it appeared that Haunter Hollow, the "most thrilling motel in Lavender town" was just another completely normal motel that just happened to be owned by a chilling figure (who's name was apparently Dale).

Yet again, you're probably wondering why Moon was okay with this turn of events, especially considering the nervous thoughts that filled her mind. The reason behind that lay inside her backpack: Lucario. His species being loyal and protective, he would've jumped out of his ball if he expected the worst. However, he didn't, and thus Moon felt okay with the situation. Besides, she really wanted a nap.

Later that night, after some cozy naps in their rooms and a dinner consisting of sashimi and macaroni in the mess hall, Moon decided to spend the rest of the night in her room. During that time, she had begun texting Lillie. Since Alola was 19 hours behind Kanto, 11pm for Moon just so happened to be 4am for Lillie. Despite this factor, Lillie seemed in no hurry to go to bed. Moon felt guilty, really. After all, the window of acceptable-times-to-text-Lillie had closed hours ago. Yet again, she hadn't even expected Lillie to answer the first text. Hence, when Moon received a reply, she chalked it up to an insomniac episode.

Moon: Hey
Lillie: Hey! How's Kanto?
Moon: It's great! It's good to be back
Moon: Your brother is weird
Lillie: Lol, like that's new.
Lillie: What did he do this time?
Moon: He hasn't DONE anything but he's just confusing. Why did he decide to come, again?
Lillie: Idk, maybe he just wants to make up for being a douchebag. Is he being nice?
Moon: Pfft he'll barley talk to us
Lillie: Maybe he just wants to be in Kanto again? Or, he just wants to be with you?
Moon: Lol good joke
Lillie: No, seriously. He likes your company.
Moon: Really?
Lillie: Yeah. I remember him asking me one day when your next visit would be. When I asked why, he said he "hadn't seen you in awhile."

There was silence, and then:

Lillie: Just enjoy it while it lasts. I know how much you like him. ;)

Rolling her eyes, Moon let out a heavy sigh. Why was Lillie still pushing this? Sure, Moon had a crush on Gladion, but she wasn't actively seeking a relationship with him. Why couldn't Lillie accept that? Moon understood that Lillie wanted the both of them to be happy, and so she let it slide. Besides, it wasn't like Lillie had blind faith in Gladion's character. In fact, she was very adamant about how Gladion should and shouldn't act when talking to people, and would never shy away from telling him off in the midst of one of his moods. This was much different from Hau, who, despite accepting Moon's bizarre feelings towards Gladion, still didn't agree with it. As a result, he never pushed the issue of "whether or not Moon should just go for it."

Moon decided to quickly change the subject.

Moon: Speaking of which is there any luck with Hau?
Lillie: I miss him already.
Moon: Geez just ask him out already
Lillie: Haha, no. Maybe you should take your own advice, though. ;)

Ahhhhhhg!

Before Moon could think of a reply, her view was suddenly obstructed by an eerie, purple figure. Yelping, her phone slipped from her hands and she tumbled backwards off the bed.

Above her, Dale's Haunter, the building's mascot, fluttered about the room. It cackled, pointing its long, slim fingers at Moon as it prided itself for startling her. Then, descending from the ceiling, it lifted her fallen phone from the ground and apologetically brought it to her.
