The rest of the day was uneventful. I fought back the sudden sea sickness that crept up on me like twelve years ago, leaving me with the feeling that whatever I had eaten, which was not much, was going to come back up. That night I went to bed early, my body exhausted from adjusting to the motion of the sea and woke up the next morning my neck hurting from the couch and as I sat up I saw Eryn emerge from her room wearing only her undergarments. I titled my head in shock and quickly felt my face start to turn red.
I let out a cough, and she spun around, her face quickly turning red as she rushed into her room. A few seconds later there was an explosion which rocked the ship. I sprang from the couch, dressing quickly and grabbed Diark on my out. Just as I stood in the doorway she stepped out of her room with her short swords in hand, ice covering the blades, but she was in only her undergarments.
"What the hell was that?"
"I don't know, but I am heading up right now." I rushed through the halls passing crewman who were rushing about in panic. The ship continued to shake as explosions seemed to hit everywhere. I heard many crew members hoping the ship would not sink which only made me run faster. I reached the deck and looked around trying to find the source and finally caught sight of not one but four ships approaching fast. They all looked smaller than the Witch-hunter's Heaven, but I could see that between the four nearly two dozen cannons were firing.
Each ship was as black as the darkest night and had two different symbols on the hull. One looked like a cross between a T and an O, and there were four overlapping one another creating the symbol for the Knights of Edith. The other was a large serpent breathing ice wrapped around a trident, the symbol of the God of the Ocean, Sitlec. After a few more volleys from the Edith ships, the Witch-hunter's Heaven slowly came to a stop.
One of the ships slowly came up beside us, and at the sight of all the Kupmehs and Amedtas on board, I could hear most of them rushing to the other side of the ship, vomiting in fear as they all thought they were dead. I scanned the Edith ship and found where I was looking for. I reached up to draw Diark as the Knight moved through the throng of beasts. They wore the same black armor as Serafin, but instead of sandish brown trim, this Knight had an ice blue trim.
The Knights helmet resembled that of a dolphin's head and on their back were two swords, the blades no longer than a couple feet. The Knight stood on the railing, and I felt a chill up my spine just before a bridge of ice formed between our ships. The crew backed away as she made her way across. I watched as the Knight looked to the side. I followed the gaze to see Eryn on the deck with her short swords in her hands. I knew she was still holding some of her Ahanko as the deck beneath her had a slight cover of frost. The Knight did not give too much thought to Eryn before turning back to me.
"I thought that when I had been given my order to find you that I was being sent on a wild goose chase," spoke the Knight in a feminine voice. "'Find the Ajemuha' he said, but I doubted that I would be able to find you so quickly," she said her body starting to shake. "It will be a pleasure to kill you."
"I will kill you just like I killed Serafin," I said drawing Diark
"Are you talking about Serafin Isingoma, the former eleventh seat of the Dnasunmyht? Don't you dare throw me in with the likes of him! The Dnasunmyht are the weakest of the order. I am Fauna Arrcanscape, the eighth seat of the Eladihtny, the second strongest squad. If that weakling Serafin had been an Ice Pahtan he would not have even had a seat. He would be still training," she said drawing her two swords. "Now you will see how weak he truly was."
I brought Diark as I felt the air around me start to lose heat. The deck turned to ice around the Knight, moving outward. I quickly dove to the side as an icicle shot up from the deck. I hit rolled to my feet and brought Diark up just as a dozen more shot towards me. I caught a glimpse of Fauna as she rode atop of a wave of ice. She leaped from the wave swinging her swords with such speed I had a hard time catching up.
