I've read too much Varian angst, so now y'all have to suffer through mine
°°°The rocks had destroyed your home, and we're slowly destroying the entire village of Old Corona. It was practically impossible to maneuver your way around, but you found a way.
Varian's laboratory was your destination, as he was one of the few and only people doing something about the rocks. He has told you of his experiments on the rocks, and said that you were welcome to come and help.
"Varian?" The door creaked open, causing Varian to flinch a bit. You saw him huddled over a black rock, test tubes in hand. The tubes held bright, fluorescent liquids, that seemed to be the only source of light in Varian's dark workshop.
"Y/N, I haven't seen you in a while. I assume it has to do with your house?" He said, and though he wasn't facing you, you knew his expression held sorrow and empathy.
"So far, I've discovered that the rocks are unbreakable-" You walked closer to him, as he poured a glowing liquid into one of the rocks. He was still talking about the rocks, as you noticed a strange new rock emerging from the original.
It crept towards Varian, who hadn't noticed yet. Without warning, you shoved him out if the way, as the amber closed in around your arm. Varian pushed himself off the ground, slightly shocked from the sudden impact.
He looked up to see your arm encased with amber. Scurrying off the floor, he ran over to you, and grabbed your waist, trying to free you. The rocks crowded around your feet, and you yelled at Varian to move away.
"Varian, if you don't leave, you'll be trapped in here too. Run. Go get help."
He nodded, but was hesitant to leave you alone. You yelled once more for him to leave, as the rocks inched up your body. With one last look at you, your face contorted into an expression of pain, Varian bolted out the door in search of help.
You found a piece of parchment, a wrote a somewhat long note, declaring your love for Varian in case he couldn't save you in time. You threw the note away from you, as the amber swallowed you whole.
°°°
Varian slowly opened the door, enraged and frustrated by the lack of help he received from those he thought to be his friends.
He looked up, and time seemed to freeze. He dropped to his knees, seeing you in your amber prison. He took in everything; from the quill in your hand, to the pain on your face.
It was then he noticed the parchment, that was somewhat encased in amber. He tried to get it out, but found that he had to rip the bottom part off it.
Varian,
If I do not make it, or help is unreachable, I want you to know that you are everything to me.
You are my closest friend, and I couldn't wish for anyone or anything more. You are the absolute best part of my day, and I always look forward to seeing you.
If this is truly the end, I must tell you now
I
That was where it ended. The rest was still in the amber. Frustrated, Varian punched the ground repeatedly, scaring Rudiger, who cowered under a table.
At that time, Varian couldn't focus on anything. His mind was a whirlpool of mayhem, swirling with thoughts he couldn't make out.
But he knew one thing. He would save you. He would free you from the amber you were imprisoned within.
No matter what he had to do.
°°°
There. I wrote angst. Now suffer.
