"Varian?" The h/c haired girl said, searching every room in their shared home. The sound of chittering and laughter caught her attention, and she walked towards the door.

Upon opening it, she discovered her husband, her son and Rudiger all playing together on the floor. She smiled at the sight, before knocking on the door to get their attention.

"Mommy!" The black haired child exclaimed, jumping into her arms.

"What are you still doing up, Mason? It's way past your bedtime." Y/N said, sending a joking glare in her husband's direction. Varian gave her a sheepish look back, though he was aware that she was messing with him.

"But mommy, it's only 7! And you just got back..."

"Yeah, we were waiting for you." Varian said, standing up and walking over to his wife and son. Y/N let out a long sigh, and put Mason down. He smiled gleefully, running back to Rudiger.

Varian wrapped his arms around Y/N's waist, pulling her closer to him. "I missed you."

He placed a quick kiss on her lips, before pulling her down to Mason and Rudiger. The four sat on the floor, Mason playing with his wooden horses that Rapunzel had made.

Varian had an arm loosely wrapped around Y/N's waist, as they watched their son rolling around, Rudiger playing alongside him. Varian felt a weight on his shoulder, and looked down to find his wife asleep.

He smiled at her peaceful expression, and picked her up bridal-style and carried her to their bedroom. He lay her down gently, and went back to Mason. He found Mason asleep too, using an annoyed Rudiger as a pillow.

Varian chuckled, lifting Mason off the raccoon. "Sorry Rudiger." He apologized, Rudiger climbed up him, sitting atop his head.

Gently kicking open the light green door, Varian was careful not to trip as he navigated his son's bedroom floor.

After successfully reaching the bed, Varian tucked Mason in, before letting Rudiger curl up next to the small boy.

Varian went back to clean up all of Mason's horses, but found Y/N already doing it. Varian snuck up behind her, grabbing her by the waist. "I thought you were asleep?"

"I was, but you know I'm a light sleeper." Varian grabbed the last toys, and put them in the basket with the other ones, before heading back to the bedroom, Y/N following behind.

"I forgot to ask; how was work today?" Y/N sighed as she flopped onto the bed.

"Tiring, as usual. The life of a Queen's assistant is busy. You're lucky you get day's off. Being the Royal Alchemists seems much less tiring."

Varian couldn't argue with that. His work wasn't needed often, so he spent most of his time taking care of Mason. His wife, on the other hand, was the full time assistant to Queen Rapunzel, and had work every day of the week.

"I'm gonna try and sleep. G'night Var." Y/N murmured, as she huddled under the blankets. Varian smiled down at her, and brushed some hair out of her eyes.

"Goodnight, love." He whispered, kissing her on the cheek softly, before lying down himself, and wrapping his arms around her.
