So I get to tell this Chapter. Third person view daw.
When everyone was already seated an thelunch table, Joaquin looked at Anna and Carlos who were seated beside each other. Carlos would sometimes lean over to Anna to ask if she's okay. Joaquin noticed how everyone were obliviousnof what is happening between the two. He looked at his parents and they all seemed more occupied on choosing what to eat than at what is happening on the table. He was thinking: Can't they see, I am the husband and my damn twin brother is playing the husband to my wife? He could not understand the morals of the people he calls his family. Carlos on the other hand can not look at Joaquin who was openly staring at them. Anna seemed tired and too sad and too devastated to ever continue the charade. She broke down and cried.
Joaquin watches as Carlos tries to comfort her but Anna could not stop crying. Everything seemed so fast and blurry for her. Andito si Carlos, the man she has loved all her life. And Joaquin, the man who married her and gave her daughter the father that she longed for. Her daughter won her first international competition and yet she feels so sad. She looked up and caught Joaquin's eyes. Hindi niya maintindihan kung ano ang nararamdaman ni Joaquin. His face shows nothing. But his eyes reflected his pain, his anger and his frustrations.
JOAQUIN
I look at them and I could no longer take it. I stood up and went to Anna. I looked at Carlos and I know naintindihan niya yung tingin ko sa kanya. Umalis siya sa tabi ni Anna at lumipat sa upuan na iniwan ko. I sat beside her and she looked at me. She is openly crying now. I noticed everyone at the table was silent now. Napansin ko si Nathalie nakatingin sa aming dalawa. I felt that she wanted to stand up and come protect her mother from me but I do not know if what kept her from coming was Carlos who stopped her or because she has not seen me get mad yet.
"Tara. Let's go somewhere else. We need to talk."
I took her arm and we stood up. Nagpaalam ako sa kanila na may gagawin lang kami ni Anna. Not one said a word except mom who said, "JC, Anna is pregnant, get this water and be careful."
She handed me a bottled water. If you know my mother she is really not offering water. She was just reminding me to take it easy or else I have to deal with her. I nodded at her. I did not look at Carl, wala akong pakialam sa kanya kung payag siya na ilayo ko si Anna dun, Ako ang asawa hindi siya. At hindi rin siya ang may karapatan sa kanya ngayon. I looked at Nathalie. She was looking at me like she wanted to kill me. It was the first time that she ever was hostile to me. I had to smile at her and mouthed: Don't worry, Mommy's going to be okay. She did not smile but she relaxed. I looked at Abuelo and nodded. He nodded back.
I dropped my hand from her arm. Binitawan ko ang kamay niya pero hindi ako lumayo sa kanya. Baka kung ano ang mangyari sa kanya at least nasa tabi lang niya ako. I guided her to the elevator and punched the number to my floor. We did not talk. But she allowed me to guide her. She stood still while I opened the door to my room.
