Surprise (Chapter twenty-three)

I'm eight months pregnant and tired of sitting at home.
"Nathan I want to do something I'm getting tired of being home." He was getting ready and I was sitting on the bed in my satin robe. "Baby what do you want to do? Come to work with me?" "Oh please Nathan I have already talked to Stacy and she said they would love to have me back." "Ava I don't think that's a good idea..." I got up an wrapped my arms around him and looked up at him. "Please? We could work together and I won't be doing anything hard just helping out in the office and everything... I just want to be helpful." He placed his hands on my face and kissed my lips softly it was nothing like Jason's. "go get ready angel." I smiled up at him and reached up to kiss him.

I got dressed in a purple dressed that stopped a little bit above the knees with long sleeves an with black heels and I straightened my hair. I walked downstairs and met Nathan and he helped me into his truck.

We pulled in and everyone was so excited to see me even though my father wasn't here I still felt like home. Stacy walked me around since Nathan had to go on duty.

"So if you want you can hang around with me if you want." "That would be prefect Stacy thank you so much... for everything." She hugged me we kept walking she showed me an office that I could stay in but today I would be with her. It was around breakfast time now and she was in there which means in there as well.

"Awe we have missed you Ava so glad you're here still and now you're all grown up." I smiled at Rachel who worked with my dad I hugged her. "I always loved this place and still does so many amazing people here." One of the inmates handed me a tray he was an older guy who seemed sweet. "Here you go Ms. Channing." "Thank you so much sir." I followed Stacy over to the table. We were all talking I looked over and saw Jason starring at me I winked at him and smiled he looked down and smiled.

After breakfast Stacy had to go on an emergency run so I went into my office since I took college classes in high school and I was taking college classes online I only have a year left of business school so they trusted me to talk to the inmates when they felt the need to talk. I heard a knock on the door I was setting up pictures and and very thing up. "come in." I had the chair turned around and when I turned around I saw Jason cuffed and an officer holding him. "Um what can I help you with?" "He needs someone to talk to... he don't play well with others at all." "Well he is more than welcome to stay in here and talk to me." "Is that okay with you McCann?" "As long at it gets me away from your fatass." "Watch it McCann and don't fuck with her." He uncuffed him and he sat down in the chairs across from my desk I smiled and walked the officer out and shut the door I turned around and Jason was standing in front of me I smiled up at him he leaned down and started kissing me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his pulling me closer to him I pulled away from his lips. "Calm down Jase remember all that caused this." I pointed down at my stomach he laughed and walked back over to the chair I walked over to mine.

"Is that her?" He pointed to one of the frames I had the ultrasound picture in. "Yeah that's Kolby." I handed him the picture so he could look at it better I watched as he gazed at the picture in awe. "She looks beautiful when is she due?" "Next month hopefully." "Ava I would love to be there when she's born..." I walked in front of him and sat on the desk and crossed my legs. "Listen Jason I know you would and I would love if you were the one helping me getting the nursery ready or being there when I'm craving something in the middle of the night... but that doesn't mean it won't happen soon baby okay? We will work something out." He looked up at me I leaned down and kissed his lips he smiled and stood up and had both hands on both sides of me with mine in his neck. "I wish we could be normal." "We are far from normal." He pulled back a little. "What about Nathan?" "what about him?" "Well you're engaged so does that mean you're going to marry him or what Ava?" "Jason I love him but I don't want to hurt him." "You don't think if he finds out this will hurt him?" "He's not going to find out unless you want him to Jason." "I don't want to share you." "Me and Kolby need someone and he loves me and her." "I love you guys too!" "Calm down Jason before they take you away." He laid his head on my shoulder I rubbed his hair. "Oh Jason baby I know you do it's just Nathan is so good to me." "I can be good baby." "You are a good man Jason just bad luck sometimes." "I might get out early their going to re open my case..." "Really?" "Yeah are you excited?" "Yeah I am." He was about to kiss me again but there was a knock and he sat back down and I got off the desk and Nathan came in.

"Hey baby- I thought you would be alone?" "Um Jason needed some time out time so he came to talk to me." I walked over to him he kissed my cheek making Jason roll his eyes. "Everything okay inmate?" "Yeah never better." "Ready to go back yet?" "Do I have a choice." "You never will." He placed the cuffs back on Jason. "Can I have a moment alone with him? So we can talk about our next meeting?" He looked at me then Jason he kissed me maybe a little to long and hard. "Yeah and see after work we are going to dinner with my parents tonight." "Can't wait." He walked out and I turned around to Jason. "He really likes people to know who belong to him." "I don't belong to anyone." I walked closer to him. "I want to give you something." I walked over to the ultrasound picture of Kolby and handed it to him. "Keep it I'll try to get you pictures every time I get new ones okay? You will be in her life okay? I promise you that." I looked up at him and kissed his lips he put the picture in his pocket and Nathan took him back to his cube.

"You will never love me the way you love him will you?" I rolled my eyes wee since the first day at the prison Nathan will not let it go that Jason was alone with me. "Nathan drop it me and him are over okay?!" "No you're not over! You have a child between you guys and that's a bond im we don't have!" "Nathan I love you but he was my first love so no mine and his bond will NEVER go away and I'm sorry." He looked at me and then down at the sink. "I love you Ava and I love Kolby but I'm not her father." "I know- ow ow ow Nathan something's not right.." he ran over to me. "what's wrong?" "my water... it broke.." "Oh god the baby's coming okay let me get the bag wait here." I sat there waiting for him to hurry back she's coming a month early Nathan grabbed me and we were off to the hospital.

After ten hours of labor I finally gave birth to a healthy baby girl Kolby Amanda Channing McCann Nathan wasn't thrilled with we last name but I love it. She was a little small she only weighted four pounds but she was healthy. "I hate to admit it but she looks a lot like Jason." I looked down at her and smiled. "But she also looks a lot like you." I looked up at him he leaned down and kissed me. "I do love you Nathan a lot." "And I love you Ava." They took Kolby to the nursery and that night I slept good.
