L E A H ' S   P O V

My forehead leaned against the cold glass as I tried to numb the headache pounding against my skull. I had just returned from my daily blood test and I felt slightly light-headed. A juice box was in my hand but I didn't feel like getting any more sugar into my system.

I heard loud footsteps in the hallway but I decided to ignore them, figuring it was probably just another doctor rushing to a meeting he was late for. I blew out a thick breath of air as I felt the baby kick against my organs again. "Keep it easy in there, kid." I poked my stomach with my finger and the baby kicked back. I giggled and brushed my recently cut short hair out of my face. My crimson waves once reached to my halfway down my back, but now, they barely touched my shoulders.

The long hair reminded me of the Glade too much. It reminded me of Thomas, Newt, Minho and all the others. I had to get rid of it.

I heard how my door was unlocked. I didn't even look up to say, "Teresa, I already told you, I don't need anything." However, I didn't receive an answer, so I looked up. My breath hitched in my throat.

The person who I had been longing to see for almost seven months was standing in the doorway, slowly taking off his mask. I started shaking my head. "N-No, you're not here. This is another test. It's not real," I started to ramble as I clasped my hands over my mouth. Tears spilt from my eyes and dripped down my cheeks.

"I'm here, Leah, I'm really here," Thomas softly said, holding out his arms to me. I let the tears fall freely and I leapt forward, throwing my arms around his neck. I buried my face in the fabric of his uniform as his arms held me close to his body.

"I'm so sorry, I never should've b-broken up with you. It was all m-my fault and if I could take it all back, I would. I just n-never expected-" I rambled through my tears.

"Hey, hey, hey, it's fine, it's fine. Look at me," Thomas ordered and my restless eyes focussed on his own. He cupped my face and gently stroke my skin with his thumb. "It's okay," he repeated and I nodded softly.

I took a hold of his face and Thomas sighed sadly as he looked me over. His eyes were full of tears. "What have they done to you?" he asked softly, tracing his finger over the bruise on my forehead.

"I love you so much," I told him softly.

He smiled and brushed the hair out of my face before pulling me close and kissing me passionately. I felt his lips smile against my own and a joyful giggle erupted from my throat.

I pulled back after what felt like hours and rested my forehead against his. I opened my eyes and saw tears leaking from his own brown orbs. I smiled softly and wiped away the droplet with my thumb. "I missed you so much," I whispered.

Thomas's lips turned upward before he pulled away from me, he knelt to the ground and placed his hands on either side of my stomach. "Hey there, kid. Guess what? Your dad's back," he grinned and I heard a lump in his voice. He placed his lips on the fabric of my shirt and left a lingering kiss on it.

I ran my fingers through his hair and he stood back up. "Have I told you how amazing you look?" He muttered and my cheeks flushed as I giggled.

"You don't look so bad yourself," I said.

"Ahw, how cute," another voice chimed in and I peered over Thomas's shoulder to find Newt with his arms crossed leaning against the doorframe, looking at us with a grin.

"Newt," I breathed before tightly hugging him. "I can't believe you guys are actually here. How on earth did you get in without being seen?"

Thomas chuckled. "Believe it or not, but Teresa helped us."

My eyebrows knitted together. "Teresa helped you?" I repeated.

The dark-haired girl stepped around the corner and showed me a tiny smile. "You helped them?" I repeated once again, making sure I had heard them correctly. Teresa nodded. "Wow," I breathed. "Thank you."

Thomas came up to me and wrapped an arm around my waist. "We have to get going. Teresa, you know the plan. Let's go get Minho," he stated. He and Newt put their masks back on as we exited my room. Teresa made sure to lock the door so no one would notice immediately that I was gone.

"Minho?" I questioned. "Was he not with the others?"

We walked down the hallways and corridors of the hellhole where I had spent the past seven months.  "No, they took him to the medical wing. We have to hurry to get back, we need that serum," Thomas replied.

"Serum? What are you talking about?" I felt my blood run cold. The two boys stopped in their tracks and Newt rolled up his sleeve. I clasped my hands over my mouth and stepped back.

"No, please tell me you're joking," I mumbled. Newt sighed and put the sleeve back.

"It's nothing. I'm fine," he stated.

"You're not fine, Newt. You'll die if we don't get you that serum," I objected.

"I won't die. We're getting you and Minho out of here and we're never turning back. We'll get a serum eventually," Newt said.

We were forced to stop the conversation as we reached an elevator. Thomas pressed the button multiple times as we waited impatiently for the elevator to arrive. It eventually did and our group rushed inside, instantly pressing the button to get to the right floor where we knew we'd find Minho.

The doors slowly slid shut but right before they touched, an arm was placed in between to keep them open. It was Janson. He entered the elevator, pressing the button for the floor he needed before standing next to me. I balled my fists to prevent my hands from trembling too much.

Thomas and Newt were standing right behind me and Teresa. "You're working late," Janson remarked.

"Just running some more tests," Teresa stated plainly.

"That's what I like about you, Teresa. No matter how bleak things get, you never give up. In times like this, you need a friend you can count on," Janson said.

She offered him a tight-lipped smile. "I'll bear that in mind."

A short silence fell and I could feel the extreme tension in the room.

"There is one thing you should know." Janson turned to Teresa and me. "One friend to another. Thomas is here." A shiver ran down my spine. If Janson found Thomas, he'd most definitely kill him.

I looked up. "He is?" I softly muttered and Janson nodded.

"Surveillance cameras picked him up right outside the walls. Ava didn't want you to know about this but I thought you deserved to know the truth. He'll most likely try to contact either one of you and if he does..." He trailed off. "Well, let's just say that I would like to be your first call."

"Are you going to kill him?" I asked softly.

A small smirk lingered on Janson's lips. "Would that be a problem?"

The elevator came to a halt. "This is us." Teresa grabbed my forearm and took me with her before I could say another word.
