We walked down another white corridor, Thomas taking the lead.

"Thomas, you have to listen to me. Getting that serum won't save Newt," Teresa called as she jogged after us. "It might buy him some time, but-"

"Just ignore her, she's trying to get inside your head," Newt cut her off sternly.

"Thomas, you know what's going on. People are dying, the world is dying. There is something about your blood that I don't understand," she continued.

Thomas stopped in front of one of the glass doors. "Open it," he curtly said. Teresa scanned her fingerprint and the doors slipped open.

"Let me run some tests. I can protect you," she said. Thomas let out a huff before whipping around and throwing his mask to the floor.

"Yeah, like you protected Leah and Minho? Did you forget that she's pregnant? You treated her like a shucking lab rat!" he barked.

"What are you doing?" Newt hissed but Thomas shook him off.

"How many people does it take? How many people do you have to torture? Kill? When the hell does it stop?" he ranted.

"It stops when we find a cure," Teresa calmly said.

She was taken aback as Thomas hissed, "There is no goddamn cure!"

"Don't waste your breath, Teresa!" I heard Janson's voice arise from behind her and my boyfriend. My eyes grew as I realized Janson had discovered that Thomas was here. He was going to kill him.

Janson walked up to us, a gun raised in the air. "He made his choice long ago." Thomas grabbed his own gun and raised it at Janson after placing me behind him.

"Drop the weapon!" A guard shouted and Thomas acted quick, wrapping his left arm around Teresa's neck and placing the end of the gun against her head.

"Back off. Tell your men to back off," he called. "Tell 'em to back off!"

"Hey, C'mon, Thomas, it's me. I've known you longer than you can remember. You're not gonna shoot her," Janson said.

"You don't think so?" Thomas shot back.

"Okay," Janson stated, lowering his gun and looking at Thomas with a challenging look in his eyes. "Go on, then. Shoot her. Prove me wrong." His eyes shifted from calm to malicious in under a second. "Shoot. Her."

Thomas tightened the grip on his gun and pressed it against Teresa's head. I saw his finger moving to the trigger and for a second, I actually believed that he would've killed her if Teresa hadn't thought ahead.

She pushed the three of us back through the doors and pulled the fire alarm, leaving a thick, glass door to fall down and seal the entrance.

Janson opened fire on the door but the thick glass prevented the bullets from reaching us.

Thomas reached down and took my hand in his before taking me and Newt away from the door. We tried to walk through the hallways as silently as possible, but I felt the eyes of the doctors and scientists on us. Thomas and Newt weren't wearing their masks anymore, so everyone probably recognized them.

"Come on." Thomas grabbed Newt's arm and dragged us into a room, crouching down next to the door where no one could see us. The fire alarm was still blasting full out and it was starting to get on my nerves.

I let out a deep shivering sigh. "You okay?" Newt asked softly and I nodded.

We waited until a squad of guards came jogging past us before we exited the room and continued our quest to find Minho in the chaos. Thomas stopped abruptly as we passed a corridor and he left our side as he had spotted the woman who had taken me away from him, Ava Paige.

He raised his gun at her but I heard footsteps on my left and was just in time to jump forward and pull Thomas aside with Newt's help as Janson had opened fire at us.

We dashed in the opposite direction. "Minho!" Thomas bellowed, hoping our friend would hear us.

The guard continued to shoot at us and Thomas and Newt did everything they could to shoot them first. We managed not to get hit. "Get down!" Thomas called and we hid behind a corner. Thomas checked his bullets and saw he had only a few left.

I spotted a round object attached to the knocked out guard lying on the floor in front of us and instantly recognized it to be an electric bomb. I had observed the guards carefully these last few months and knew what most of the weapons did. For instance, this one would let out a high powered shock, electrocuting everyone within its range.

I activated it and pushed Thomas back, who had continued shooting at the guards around the corner. "Get back!" I shouted and threw the bomb at the guards, who looked at it in confusion before they were electrocuted, leaving them to drop to the ground.

"Nice one," Thomas muttered before we turned around and sprinted in the opposite direction.

We turned a corner and froze in place as a guard held us at gunpoint. "You three, freeze! Get your asses on the ground, now!" he barked. The next moment, a vague figure kneed the man in the chest before throwing him through one of the windows that led to another corridor. The figure turned out to be Minho.

All of our jaws dropped as he spotted us. "Minho," Thomas breathed before we squashed him in a tight hug.

Minho looked at us with a perplexed expression. "Is this real?" he asked. I giggled before nodding.

"Okay, let's go," Newt said and we jogged away. I was lucky that I was wearing shoes because there was glass everywhere on the floor from Minho throwing that man through the window.

We turned another corner where we were ambushed by three guards. Thomas didn't hesitate to whip around and turn back, but Janson was standing on the other side, raising his gun at us.

"In here!" Thomas shouted and opened a side door, we all fled inside and the door was locked instantly. Minho and Newt sealed the door with a steel cart and Thomas looked around, trying to find a way out. His eye fell on the window.

The next second, bright sparks arose as a saw started working its way through the door's lock from the other side. We didn't have much time before Janson had managed to open the door.

"Any ideas?" I asked.

"Maybe..." Thomas muttered.

The next moment, he and Minho threw a gas tank through the window and it fell all the way down, ending up in the pond on the ground.

"Okay, it's doable," Thomas said softly.

"For me it's not," I mumbled, gaining the attention of the three boys. "If I land in the water, I'll most likely kill the baby. That's not happening."

"Yeah, you're right," Thomas replied.

My eye fell on Thomas's gun. "How many bullets do you have left?" I asked. He frowned before checking.

"Two, why?"

"Give it to me." I didn't wait for a reply as I took the gun from his grasp.

"Ley, what are you doing?" Newt asked.

"You guys jump. I'll meet you downstairs," I said.

"What are you going to do? Kill those guards with two bullets?" Minho asked.

"Don't worry, I've got this," I said, not able to hide the shiver in my voice.

"No way. I'm not leaving you," Thomas objected and I sighed.

"You survived seven months without me, you can handle another few minutes." I saw him gritting his teeth. "Thomas, I love you but you have to trust me on this one. I'll be fi-" I was rudely interrupted by the guards smashing open the door. "Jump!" I shouted and the three of them leapt out of the window.
