Chapter Sixteen – Preparations
Scarlet opened her eyes immediately once she heard that Xaphana had submitted to her will. Once she opened her eyes, she was no longer within the meeting hall. She was staring at the ceiling of the inn. The sun was shining through the window across the room. She sat up in her bed and saw Tempest heading out the door.
“Tempest!” She yelled after him. He turned around and ran over to the bed.
“You’re awake! Thank goodness you are alright.” Tempest threw his arms around her and squeezed her hard. “I thought you might have died. Everyone was so worried that you weren’t going to wake up. I didn’t want to have been mad at you and have you die on me. I’m sorry.” He kissed her deeply and she returned the kiss.
“How long was I asleep for? I just shut my eyes in the council meeting last night.” Tempest’s eyes were wide.
“The council meeting was two days ago. The Netherlord’s attack is coming tomorrow. That’s why everyone was so worried.” Scarlet was freaking out. It took her two full days to make Xaphana submit to her. She had hoped to wake up before the council meeting had finished.
“How are the preparations coming along for tomorrow?” Scarlet asked worried that things had not been done while she was asleep.
“Get dressed, come downstairs, get some Thorn berry juice and I will show you around the city.” Scarlet jumped out of bed and Tempest immediately grabbed her hand. “Get dressed in some clothes. Fire doesn’t react well with the chairs downstairs.” They both had a laugh and Tempest left the room. Scarlet looked out the window before she dressed and the city view had already majorly changed. The walls of the city were now crowded with people and all sorts of various machines. The platforms that she remembered hearing about were being constructed by earth Elementalists all around the city. You could see random pillars shoot from the ground in various areas.
Scarlet grabbed the clothes, showered up, and put on the new fresh pair of clothes. She felt strange feeling the fabric tight against her again. She had taken quite a liking to her naked state and her flame clothes. But she wore the fabrics nonetheless.
As she arrived downstairs, she saw the table that Tempest was seated at and noticed that Volde was there as well. She ordered her Thorn berry juice and sat at the table with her two friends.
Scarlet laughed as she sat down which gathered strange looks from the both of them. “One week ago, we wanted to get here so bad, we just had to past those trials. Now, we have a dark Elementalist that has access to the Nether granted by the Eternal himself, we have an Elder now sitting at the table with us, and we have a powerful fire Elementalist whose power super cedes any of the Elementalists with in Capitol. We’ve come a long way in a week.” She finished and took a big drink of her juice. The three of them sat in silence at the revelation. Volde simply fiddled with the amulet around his neck that Scarlet had referenced. Tempest was fidgeting with his new grey colored Elder robes.
“It’s really weird having a new name.” Tempest added breaking the silence. “Temporsword. Elder Temporsword.”
“Hey, at least I can still call you Temp.” Scarlet smiled jokingly at Tempest.
“Hey, that’s Elder Temp to you, young miss.” Volde said in a silly uptight voice. The three of them laughed. It was almost as if they did not have a massive battle to fight tomorrow. They were just three young kids who were sitting and enjoying their afternoon. Tempest decided to stand from his seat.
