Painful

First day

Today is the day I'm going to the police station. I can't wait till I may begin. I was drinking my smoothie in the backyard when I got a text from Jason:'take your sport clothes with you' it said. I dressed up and packed my clothes (outfit is above) . I still haven't met my grandmother. I think it's a little weird though, I mean she could've come to visit me. Right? My grandmother made me think of Rosie and I decided to go check on her. I fell in love with her caramel macchiatos! I think I've went every single day. I grabbed my stuff and drove to the bakery.

"I'm back!" I said when I came in. "Ha darling I was already waiting for you. Today's the day!" She said smiling. I gave her a hug "I know, it's exciting! Jason sent me a text this morning and said I need to take my sport clothes. I think we're going to practice already". "That would be amazing. By the way Emma I have a new employee. This is Alex" Rosie pointed to a girl that was cleaning the tables. The girl smiled friendly and shook my hand "hi I'm Alex" "I'm Emma" I replied friendly. "I know, Rosie won't stop talking about you" I chuckled "Rosie doesn't stop talking at all". We all laughed "Emma! Don't scare her away already" Rosie joked. A few customers came in and Alex helped them out. "She looks really friendly" I said "she is. I'm happy I hired her, now I'm not alone anymore".

Alex came back. "So Alex what are your hobbies?" I asked curiously. "I like to sport especially soccer and to watch movies" I nodded. "Maybe we can do something sometime" she agreed and gave me her phone number. I ordered my macchiato and left after a while.

I finally arrived at the police station. It was a big building and it radiates power. I grabbed my bag and walked up the stairs. I stepped inside the building and saw a waiting room and a counter. "Excuse me, where can I find Jason Parks?" I asked the woman behind the counter. "What's your name?" "Emma Parks" I replied. "He's on the 4th floor. The elevators are down the hall" I followed her instructions and went to the elevators. As I walked out of it I saw many people, they were probably all cops.

I searched for Jason and found him in his office behind his desk. "Look at you, all professional " I said laughing. "Emma, you made it!" I sat down on the couch across him. "You're right on time, because you're going to practice with someone and he just finished his lunch break" as Jason finished his sentence a guy came in. "Jason you wanted to speak with me?" Wait I knew this guy, he's the cop that helped me the other day. He noticed me "I can come back later" "no Nathan, I want you to meet Emma. Emma this is Nathan, your new partner in crime". Nathan looked from Jason to me and back to Jason with a questioning look on his face. Jason nodded as if they were having a silent conversation. Nathan smiled softly and shook my hand, "you may call me Nate, everyone does" he said friendly. "Nathan I want you to show her everything and go practice together" Jason ordered. Nate nodded "I will". He signed to me to follow him and I did.

"Aren't you the girl from last week?" He asked. "Yes I'm" Nate smirked. As we walked past a few other people we arrived at a empty desk "this will be yours, mine is the one beside yours" "alright". "Around the corner is the kitchen you can get your coffee or tea here, but to be truthful the tea isn't delicious at all, so take your own if you want to" he said smiling. He walked past the kitchen and went to the back.

"Here's the lab and this are Mia and Luke" he pointed to the two and walked towards them. "This is Emma guys, my new partner" "omg! Finally another girl in the squad!" Mia yelled enthusiastically and gave me a tight hug, but I didn't know how to react so I looked at the boys confused. "Mia is always hyper" Nate said laughing. "Yeah I am! But that's a good thing. Stay positive!" I laughed. "This is Luke. He's shy" "I'm not" Luke blushed. I gave him a friendly smile, but now he blushed even more. "Nice to know you guys" "aw you're so kind. I like you already" Mia replied. "Alright, alright Emma and I have to practice. We'll see you later!" I waved them goodbye and followed Nate.

We arrived at the changing rooms "let's change in our sport clothes I'll be waiting for you in the room over there" Nate said. I nodded and followed his lead. When I was ready I went into the room. It was a sport hall and there was a whole parkour ready. We weren't the only ones in the room many cops were practicing. One by one they were doing the parkour. I watched them to get an idea of what I had to do, if it was my turn. "Are you ready?" Nate was suddenly standing right next to me. I looked up "I'm always ready". He smirked "we'll see. The goal is to do the parkour in 3:50 seconds. You're next" "how about you?" I asked confused. "I'm not going" "why not?" "Because I don't have to. You do" I looked at him in disbelief "are you my partner or my boss? I want to see if my partner has some skills. I highly doubt it though". I know I pushed him a little, but I was relieved when he started laughing. "You'll be in shock! You don't know it yet but you have the best partner someone can imagine" as I looked at him with a smirk he handed me a timer and went to the start.

"3, 2, 1, Go!" Nate started running, climbed over a fake wall, jumped, crouched and balanced on some obstacles. Right when he stepped on the finish line I stopped the timer "3:21" "as I said, I'm the best!" I laughed "I highly doubt that!". I tossed the timer to Nate, he catches it and I walked toward the start line. He started to count down "3, 2, 1, Start!" I ran as fast as I could and did the parkour. I landed on the finish line and looked at Nate. "3:21" "shoot!" "Not bad! You're actually very good, but talking about shooting. We have to keep going" I smiled happily and followed him to the shooting room. There was a small room with many guns and ammunition. He gave me an ordinary weapon with 3 bullets and grabbed the same weapon and ammo. I grabbed two hearing protectors and gave one to Nate "thank you". We went to the shooting room and we began to shoot. 1... 2... 3 I looked over to Nate and he had all his bullets trough the heart. "I think that you missed one" He said looking to my board "no I didn't". He looked again two bullets were trough the heart and one was trough the head. He was looking at me with disbelief. I turned around and threw my hair to the back as I walked away.

I was sitting on my brand new desk waiting for Nate. "Why are you here? What's your reason?" I turned around on my chair and saw Nate he grabbed his chair and shoved it next to me. "What do you mean?" I asked curious "you're professional, but Jason said you were new" "you've finally got a good partner, so? Why are you here? You're good too" I leaned forward to be a little intimidating. Nate looked at me with a serious look in his eyes, but suddenly he started laughing and shook his head "that bastard!". He stood up and walked away. "I'll see you tomorrow!" I yelled. "That was easy" I grabbed my bag and went home.

I'm in bed thinking about today. I met many new and fun people: Alex, Mia, Luke and of course Nate. Nate was kind of handsome and I loved working with him, not that we had done something precious with our time. Why was he so sure I was there for a reason though and what did he mean with 'that bastard!'? I know one thing for sure... he's something else. I closed my eyes with that thought and fell into a deep sleep.
