Hangover

It was getting colder outside and I decided to get some sleep. I walked inside my house. All the lights were still off and with a little effort I found my kitchen. I placed my cup on the table and drank some water out of the water tap. "Can't you sleep?" I heard someone say. I choked on the water I drank while I blindly looked for the switch. I turned the light on and saw Nate standing by the refrigerator. He moaned and covered his eyes. "Please turn it off" I did what he asked and instead I used the flashlight of my phone. "What happened?" He asked "and where are we?". "The three of you got drunk and I had to get you out of the club all by myself, that happened" I replied tired. "Where are the others? And what the hell happened to your face?" He asked worried. "Luke is on the couch and Mia is in my bed. Do you want coffee?" "Sure, but you didn't answer my second question" I sighed. I wasn't going to tell him the whole story. What? Should I say: there was perf he tried to touch Mia I saved her ass. You were almost making out with a girl, I got rid of her and when I got the three of you in the car the perv came with the girl and some other boys so yeah, we fought. That would be awkward to tell, right? "I got in a little fight" I shortened the story. Nate looked questioning to me "were you drunk?" "No" "was that person drunk?" "I guess not" "then why are you lying?! Just tell me what happened!" He snapped at me. "Look Nate I'm tired. It's already five in the morning and I had a long night. The medicines are in the drawer. Get some sleep, please" I said calmly before I turned around.

I got a thicker blanket and went back to the garden were I just wanted to sleep under the stars. I looked at the sky and started thinking. Was I wrong? Should I have told him? I didn't want to, because it was just awkward to tell. I don't know why, it just was. I didn't want to bother him with it too. My fingers touched the wound slightly. It still hurt a little, but I'm sure I've felt worse pain. I hit that bastard a few more time after he was on the ground. He deserved it. I was not telling Nate, Luke or Mia about tonight. Especially not Mia. How would you feel if someone started touching you when you were drunk. I think she would feel so awful. The stars were beautiful by the way and they really do help when you want to think. My eyes got heavier and heavier...

I woke up because of the birds chirping and the bright sun. I walked inside and found Luke with his head in his hands. "Nauseous, headache?" I asked standing by the door. He peeked through his hands and looked at me. "Yeah, I've been puking the whole morning" "need medicine?" I asked. He nodded "yes please". I walked to the kitchen and grabbed the medicines and two glasses of water. "Here you go. I'm going to check on Mia" I said. "Thank you Emma" he said looking in my eyes. I smiled and walked upstairs.

I opened the door and didn't saw Mia in the bed. The curtains were still closed. I heard something fall in the bathroom and I hurried to it. "Mia?" When I walked into the bathroom I found Mia washing her face. "Yeah?" She replied with a pale face. "Are you alright?" I asked worried. "No, I hate hangovers" I escorted her back to the bed and gave her the aspirin and the glass off water. "What happened yesterday? Do you remember? You don't seem like you had a hangover. Who did that to your face?!" she said. I totally forgot about the little wound I had and my fingers touched it. It didn't hurt anymore, thank god. "Well yesterday night you all got drunk. The boys are downstairs we're at my place. And I got hit" "I'm so sorry! I hope we didn't got you in trouble!" She gasped. "No, it wasn't you. There was just a annoying guy. I took care of it" Mia gave me a hug "thank you! I already feel better" "no problem. Let's go downstairs"

When we went downstairs Nate was still sleeping and Mia and Luke finally started talking again. I wanted to give them some space and decided I would make some breakfast for us. I opened the refrigerator and grabbed some eggs, milk and juice. I started cooking the eggs and making up the plates. "Aren't you going to tell me what really happened last night?" I unexpectedly heard Nate say. "Well good morning to you too, trouble maker" Nate rolled his eyes "good morning. Trouble maker? Does that mean I have something to do with it?" I looked at him and switched the weight on my leg to the other one. "You are feeling better I see. I know what happened yesterday and you don't. I won't tell you, because I know it will kill you inside" I flipped the egg and grabbed some cups. "Can you make the coffee, please" Nate took it over, but he was a little too silent. "Just tell me what happened" he begged. I sighed deeply "why do you want to know? I told you it was nothing. The three of you made it home save. That's the important thing" "did you?" He asked with a look I couldn't really place. "I did! We took care of it! Now please stop asking so many questions!" I started to get angry. Why did he want to know it so desperately?

"What's going on?" I heard Luke ask while he and Mia came in. "Emma, won't tell the truth about yesterday" Nate explained to them. "She told me she had a little fight, that's all" Mia said. "She's lying!" Nate responded. "She's standing right here" I mumbled back. The eggs were done and I placed everything on the table. Everything was set and I took my seat. The others sat down too. "Why won't you tell us what happened?" Luke asked calmly, "because" I replied. "Stop acting so childish! Just spill it already!" Nate raised his voice. I snapped this time. "You want to know?! The three of you got freaking drunk! Mia almost got raped, Luke was knocked down, because I don't know how many glasses he had drunk and you-" I pointed to Nate, because he was the one that actually made me mad, "you are the one that almost made out on the bar! When I tried to take the three of you to the car your girlfriend and that perf apparently knew each other so they came after me. He touched me so I gave him a punch. We fought okay?! Your knuckles and my face are the proof of that! Are you finally happy?!" It was silence and I wasn't hungry anymore I took a sip of my juice and looked at their faces. Luke had pity, Mia had tears and Nate just stared at me. I tried to avoid his eyes. "Thank you" Mia said "-for everything. For saving me... us. For driving us home, watching after us and for telling us". I didn't know how to reply it was all getting a little too emotional and I don't know how to deal with that.

We all started eating in silence and they all helped with the dishes. Mia obviously tried to make us smile again and she did we all were laughing at the end of the day. I decided to give them a lift, to save them the money for a taxi. I dropped Luke first then Mia and I brought Nate back to the club where his car was still parked.

Nate had acted all day as if nothing happened. And although the radio was on, the drive was still awkward. "aren't you going to say anything?" I murmured. He was quite for a moment "Thank you" he whispered "huh? What was that? I thought I heard something?" I joked. He rolled his eyes "I said thank you". Now I was the quiet one. "I'm sorry. What you saw yesterday wasn't me. I usually don't get drunk over nothing or chase women. I wish you hadn't seen it" I looked at him "why?" He clearly avoided eye contact and I looked back at the road. "I hope yesterday won't change your opinion about me, if you had one" he explained. I chuckled "why would it? Things like that can happen, but why did you want so badly know what happened yesterday?" He shrugged his shoulders "I don't know, crazy shit can happen when you're drunk" I laughed "I noticed". I stopped the car and he finally looked at me. "You know I'm really thankful for what you did last night, right?" I nodded gently. He smiled and gave me a wink "I'll see you on work, partner" "absolutely". He got out of my car and I watched him open his before I drove off.

I don't know why but yesterday night kept popping up in my mind. If Mia and Luke hadn't fought, it may had not had happened.

When I got home I nearly dove on the couch. I sighed deeply. Finally some silence, I was tired and bored at the same time so I decided to just call Alex. We spoke for a few hours. I told her what happened and she told me about a crazy customer. Till the battery finally died...

What's would your reaction be if your friends would push you to tell something?
I know this chapter may had been a little boring, but I'm telling you there's drama around the corner!
