[chapter two]
"How about there?" I turned away from Brunette and pointed to a large barn which seemed clear of zombies although there were a few blood splatters covering the wooden surface of the structure.
"It's up to you," Shakila parked the car.
"What do you boys think?" I looked up into the review mirror.
"Seems stable. May be a few zombies but that's easy to get rid off," Brunette replied as his gaze lingered over the area before meeting mine with a warm smile. "Here's the plan; Luke and Ashton, you lead everyone in with these AK's. Michael and Brunette Chick, you two guard the back while Warrior Girl carries me in. I'll be holding everything we need: the duffel bag with the guns and the plastic bag," Everyone nodded in agreement.
I climbed out of the vehicle and ran around to Brunette's door which I opened. He wrapped his arms around my neck as I slithered my hold under his body and pulled him up. He used one hand to place the duffel bag and plastic bag onto his stomach before replacing it around my neck. I slammed the car door shut with my foot and began to follow after Blondie and Curly.
Blondie kicked the large double door to the barn wide open, revealing seven or more zombies standing around a woman lying on her stomach but it seemed as though she were lying on something. Curly, Blondie, Greeny and Shakila were firing repeatedly at the zombies as I placed Brunette on the haystack nearby before I crept over to the woman.
I rolled her over onto her back before letting out gasp.
"Is that.. Is that baby?" Blondie crouched beside me as we both stared at the perfectly fine baby sleeping soundlessly in a pink blanket, her thin blonde hair styled into a small pony tail with the small amount she had. "How the fuck did she manage to survive?" He then questioned and looked to me as though I knew everything.
"I have no fucking idea," I rolled my eyes at him.
"Well.. We can't just leave the poor thing here, now can we?" Curly grasped his large hands around the tiny waist of the baby before he pulled her up and rested her on his chest. "What should we name her? She looks like a Mary but then again she could be a Sarah," He patted her back lightly as if she were a glass china doll and were bound to brake at any moment.
"No, no, no. We don't know anything about this baby, Curly. What if she's been bit? What if the father is still alive? We can't just discover a baby under a woman and take her in without a single problem!" I exclaimed. "For all we know, this baby could be some midget red-neck," I threw my arms up for exaggeration.
"First of all, it's a baby. Second of all, what the fuck? A red neck? And third of all, we can't just leave an innocent child here to die. She hasn't even had time to fucking explore the world yet. She won't survive a minute let alone a second out there. She needs to be taken care of," Curly replied.
"Alright, alright. Calm your tits," I ran my fingers through my hair. "Just check her for bites before we start even thinking of names for her," I instructed and Curly nodded before heading over to a random haystack where he began stripping the baby down.
"How ya' doin', Brunette?" I made my way over to the lad still sitting in the position I left him on the bundle of hay while a smile played on his lips. "It's not hurting too much is it?" I then questioned as I squatted in front of him and placed my hand over the bandage.
"My legs in pain but I can handle it," He replied.
"You want a pain killer?" I grabbed the plastic bag beside him and fished out the small box of pain killers as he nodded his head vigorously. "So much for handling it, Brunette," I chuckled and handed him one of the small, white pills.
