Chapter 21
Drew's POV
I grabbed the garbage can that the black daisies were in and paged down a doctor. "Do you need something?" He asked like it was no big deal. Being in a hospital with dying people IS A BIG DEAL!
"These flowers are poisonous," I said just as nonchalantly. The doctor's eyes widened as he grabbed the trash can and briskly walked away into some lab room. "You're welcome!" I yelled after him.
I stalked back into Chelsea's hospital room where Jay sat in a chair playing on his phone. He looked up when I came in. "Come on, Drew. She'll be fine-"
"You can't say that she'll be fine when her heart fucking stopped!" Chelsea's dead. I'll have no one. I'm going to be all alone. I couldn't help the thoughts that kept coming as I sank to the ground against the wall. My knees were hugged to my chest, and a lone tear slipping out of my eyes every minute or so. I'm a quick cry. At least I try to be.
I dug my phone out of my pocket and looked through the pictures Chelsea and I took. My favorite of us together is when we're both sticking our tongues out towards each other with our heads pressed together. If she makes it out of this alive, the first thing I'm doing is taking a picture of her.
I clicked out of the photo app after I set my favorite picture of us as my lock screen. I pressed the music app and selected the playlist "Chelsea". I created it last night when she was sleeping.
FLASHBACK
I sat next to Chelsea in the hospital bed as she channel surfed and I played on my phone. After her fifth yawn I said, "Chelsea, you should just go to sleep."
"You're probably right," Chelsea mumbled as she got off the bed and stumbled into the bathroom to get ready for bed. I stretched my legs out into the shape of a "v" sence they were getting stiff laying in a straight line. I started America's Funniest Home Videos instead if playing in on my phone so I locked it and set it next to me.
The bathroom door opened and Chelsea walked out in Packer pajama pants and a black sports bra. My breath got caught somewhere in my throat at how she can make pajamas so sexy and beautiful. Chelsea crawled onto the bed and sat in between my legs, facing the TV. This girl is just trying to kill me with her perfectness. She pulled the covers up over us and snuggled into them. I wrapped my arms around her waist and have her a quick hug before slackening my hold a bit. "Goodnight, Chels'."
"Goodnight, Drew," she said sweetly. Chelsea leaned back into me and nestled her head into the crook of my neck. She fit perfectly.
I held her until she was asleep for a while. Then I only kept one arm around her as I used the other one to make a playlist called "Chelsea". I put a the songs we've sang together or I've sang for her in it. It's the best playlist ever.
FLASHFORWARD
I closed my eyes and let the words of each song rush over me. God, I know I'm not the best person but please, could You please help me and save her?
"Andrew?" A nurse asked as she came into the room. I looked up at her smiling face. "Chelsea's alive and fine. We got all the poison out, she's just no longer to accept any more gifts."
"She's fine!? Thank You Lord!" I got down on my knees and bowed down in honor of God.
I heard the distinct sound of a stretcher heading towards the room. I whipped my phone out and got ready to take a picture. Right when she came into view I clicked the shutter snapping a picture of the most perfect girl.
After the doctors and Jay left, I climbed into Chelsea's bed and she held open the blankets for me. We laid on our sides facing each other. "I'm so glad you're okay, baby girl," I whispered. Chelsea closed her eyes in pleasure when I gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Don't ever leave me again. I need you."
