Chapter 16
Drew's POV
I did not just hear him right. Ms. Stowens isn't doing good. At all. "Can I-I see her?" My voice sounded shaky. I'm really nervous. My heart hasn't stopped beating abnormally fast.
"Only family."
I gave a dry laugh. "That's fucked up, dude. Do you see anyone else in here for her?" The only other person in the waiting room was a girl reading a magazine. She had on black leggings and the only thing she was wearing was a cropped jean jacket. She's pretty hot...looks like she'd be a good fuck.
The doctor looked a little taken aback by what I said. "Uh, um, I guess you have a point." He thought for a moment. "Alright, you can see her. Can you inform her parents that she's here?"
"Yeah." I then muttered under my breath, "But it's not like they'll care."
"What's that?"
"Nothing," I said while I got out my phone to call Mr. Stowens....and I don't have his number.
"Are you going to call?" The doctor asked.
"I don't have their number. I'll just ask Chelsea."
"She's not conscious yet," the doctor said like it was no big deal. Does anyone besides me actually care about her!? "Do you at least know an emergency contact?"
"No."
"What kind of boyfriend doesn't even know an emergency contact number?"
"The kind that isn't her boyfriend," I smart mouthed back. I could feel as light blush creep up on my cheeks. Go away, go away, go away. You don't blush, Andrew.
"Sorry," the doctor chuckled. "You just seemed like a worried, protective boyfriend."
"Well I'm not," I mock-chuckled. "Am I gonna see her or not?" I finally asked.
"Oh, yeah, let's go." What kind of doctor forgets that easily? He better not mess up more than just Chelsea's back.
I followed the doctor through a couple of hallways until we reached a room with "C. Stowens" scribbled on a dry erase board hanging on the door.
The doctor did a quick knock then walked in right away. I've never understood why they do that. If you're gonna barge in right away without an answer, just don't knock.
Chelsea laid on the bed, an IV tube in her arm. I walked over to her and brushed a piece of hair out of her eyes. "Come on, Chels', wake up," I pleaded.
Nothing.
"Is she in a coma? When will she wake up?"
"She's just unconscious, she should wake up any time now." Now would be a great time. I sat on the edge of her bed and played with her hand. "I'm going to go find a number, I'll be back." I nodded at the doctor, silently saying okay.
***********
I was channel surfing on their crappy-ass TV when Mrs. Stowens stormed in. "GET YOUR ASS OUTTA HERE ANDREW AND WHILE YOU'RE AT IT, GO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY!"
I felt a hand on mine and looked down to see Chelsea awakes with a pissed expression on her face.
