"What's going on?"
"What are the plans?"
"What do you need me to do?"
Every question unanswered except the last.
"We need you to help set up."
"Okay."
I unfold chairs,
roll out mats,
memorize documents,
and work unpaid.
A few days later and I'm still unnoticed.
I'm like a volunteer janitor,
but I guess that's all I'm good at.
You smile at me but I know,
you're a serpent.
You bit me so I couldn't leave.
You dangled the apple in front of me.
I've bitten it, now I'm caught in your circling limbs.
I can't leave without looking bad.
I have to stay and help.
I have no knowledge of what you've planned,
all I know is that you have an event.
I hope you're happy.
I hope I made you smile.
I'm just your little pawn,
and you're the dragon of it all.
So I'll keep cleaning and setting up.
At least my presence protects others,
from biting that apple.
