Life's tough.
Any adolescent could tell you that
Any mature person could, in fact.
It's up to you.
To let this drag you down.
A monstrous dragon,
Foot long talons,
Fiery breath.
You're in its clutches.
Are you calm, cool, collected?
Or are you screaming, pleading, complaining?
Like I said,
It's life.
Deal with it as the fire rages.
Learn to fight.
With a level head,
A rational mind,
A valiant heart,
A polite manner.
Who cares if its talons sink,
Deep into your arms,
Rendering you immobile.
Who cares if the talons sink
Ever deeper and eventually,
Clawing into your deepest core
Prying open
Your HEART.
Though your heart may bleed,
Though your mind falter,
Though you may be in need,
SOLDIER ON.
PUSH through.
USE your defenses.
Don't tell me you're powerless.
You've got it in you.
I can see it in your eyes,
A dying fire,
flickering weakly,
Shrinking by the millisecond.
But it's there.
It don't matter that it's dying.
It matters that it's there.
So keep your head high,
And aim for the sky,
Shoulder your pack,
Buckle your jacket,
Tie up your shoelace,
Get your head in the chase.
Keep on climbing,
Keep on running.
Because one day,
Someday,
You'll draw out that talon,
You'll staunch the wound.
Your relief is coming soon.
In short,
I'm here.
They're here.
We're here.
PERSEVERE.
SOLDIER ON.
