Outstretched
I awoke with my arm outstretched
Reaching for the warmth of someone who was not there
As if I were trying to hold on and catch
The one I love and careBut who could this be?
This person I miss as I sleep?
It can only be one of three.
Who reaches into my heart and mind so deepThe first is the sweetest.
My loving sister who has stood by my side
She who is my dearest
She who has stood the test against timeThe next could be my best friend
My insanely, amazingly crazy boy
The one who has both been the one to break and mend
The one who has brought me the greatest pain and joyThe last has been both a friend and lover
Someone who says he knows my best
He who has broken my heart over and over
The one who rather let his glory restOnly these three have shared my bed
My sister in the ways siblings do
My best friend as more than a friend
And the last who showed me something newIt could be my sister
She left me just last week
As much as I miss her
I knew she had to leave to reach her peakIt could be my best friend
It was my bed that he gave me the greatest pain and joy
It was there that we almost met our end
Where we were simply just a girl and a boyIt could be the last one I love
Who has been a friend, lover and foe
He who I often think of
He who I could never say noIn his arms the world melted away
I knew it would be too good to last
But only he and I mattered that day
I only wish it had not gone by so fastMy sister has left for her future
My best friend has returned
And the last leaves my heart in torture
Teaching me once more what I have already learnedPerhaps I miss all three
Each in their own special way
Each one mean everything to me
And I miss each one every single day
