My eyes scan over the girl walking alongside me, the happiness is all displayed on her face at the fact she's here. From what Connor told me on the way here, Eric followed Anita to the office and was an even bigger ass than usual and the twins having fun when he was getting more pissed off by the second. Originally it was only supposed to be Connor and me picking her up since we had a free period but the twins were already waiting at my car by the time we got there. It was either we take them with us or they go to the school on their own; so in the end, even if I told them no, they'd still get their way. I was fucking pissed when I heard what he said to Anita and he's lucky he didn't try anything, I was ready to knock him across the floor.
"Bro, you there? Been trying to get your attention," Sean asks his knuckles knocking across my forehead bringing me back to focus.
"Lost in thought, sorry," I mutter. From the corner of my eye I see Conner and Anita looking at me with curiosity. Chris pokes his head out of the gym, waving his hand for us to walk faster.
"You guys, hurry up!" he yells and we jog inside the gym, the team already setting up the nets.
"Anita, the girl's change room is over there. You have five minutes to change before we start our warm-ups," coach tells her as he points to the door next to our change room. The rest of us walk into the boys' change room, quickly changing out of our regular clothes and into our workout ones.
"How do you think coach is going to react when he sees how Anita plays?" Connor voices from behind me.
"Most likely the same way we did except he won't freak out like Sean did," I answer nonchalantly as I slip on my shirt, the rest of the guys laughing while Sean yells out in protest. We walk out of the change room meeting the rest of the team beside the net. I look at all of them, the anticipation is clear they're looking forward to playing with our new teammate. "You know the drill, fifteen laps around the gym," I call out.
We all move to the outskirts of the court to run our laps, the junior members already started, each time it's a race against one another to see who's faster, for them they just have a one track mind. The one difference is Anita racing along with them and if they trip over one another I'm going to give them a piece of my mind including Anita, the last thing we need right now is injuries over something so stupid. Coach calls us to a stop after ten minutes, a decent amount of time to get the legs working. I can hear Anita gloating to the juniors that in her words, 'she kicked their asses.'
"Chris, bring the bin of volleyballs over here. The rest of you guys split up into two sections, we're starting our receives," I call out. "This is good practice for you Chris," I tell him as he walks up to me. Although he does good as a setter, his serves aren't that strong yet so it's good practice for him. We each pick up a volleyball in hand, ready to serve to the rest on the other side of the court.
