"I'm surprised you came to school on time. Usually, you'd be skipping first period," Connor comments as he copies down whatever is on the chalkboard.
"My mom is going to kill me if I'm late again, she said that it's still the beginning of the school year and I've already been late at least ten times," I sigh. "I'd rather not hear her lecturing me at home."
"You don't mess with Momma C, I'm not surprised you got into trouble with her," he says mockily while I roll my eyes.
"Is there something you'd like to share with the class, Mr. Grey?" our teacher calls out to Connor. Serves him right.
"No thanks, go on with your lesson," Connor laughs and our teacher just shakes his head before continuing to write on the board.
"By the way, coach said we don't have practice today but we're having a meeting during lunch so make sure everyone is their captain," he whispers while I just look at him wondering what the fuck goes on in his head sometimes.
"If you already knew we're having a meeting then you could have passed the message instead of waiting for me to do it idiot," I scowl at Connor.
"I'm not the captain, I'm just the messenger so it's not my responsibility," he says as the bell rings and I watch him quickly stuff his notebooks into his bag before standing up. "I'll see you." With those parting words, I watch as he practically runs out of the class and forgets the fact that I'll be seeing him in just a couple of minutes. So once again I sometimes question what goes through his head and wonder how the fuck we're friends.
I don't rush to pack my bag, there's another three minutes before the next period and at the speed I'm going I doubt I'll be late. Once my bag is zipped I saunter out of my class and go straight towards the stairs to the second floor where my physics class is. I get startled for a moment when a hand slaps me across the back.
"Who the fuck-" I start to say as I turn, ready to give whoever it is a piece of my mind but my words are cut off when I realize it's Anita behind me. "You're lucky you're you," I say as I continue climbing.
"That's the nicest thing you could tell me," she beams. "I know if it wasn't me you were ready to tell off whoever it was."
"You got that right, which class do you have now?" I ask as I slow down my pace to walk with her.
"I have calculus but when I went to class I saw a supply was subbing for our teacher so I just marked myself on the attendance and left. I'm going to the library right now until lunch," she replies. "What about you? I'll walk with you to your class."
"I've got physics," I reply as we walk down the hall. "
"Physics? Ew, I hate that as much as calculus," she replies as she shudders. "Why are you taking it?"
