There's something wrong with Anita, well not wrong but something is definitely bothering her. It's been a week since we handed in our assignment but every time I tried to talk to her after she makes some shitty excuse to avoid me. Even Connor had to fucking point it out that things look weird between the two of us and even the team is picking up the strange vibe. I walk over to where she's doing her stretches and I sit down across from her mimicking her in stretching my leg.
"Are you okay?" I ask her as she looks up at me in surprise.
"I'm fine, why do you ask?" she asks nonchalantly as she switches to the other leg.
"You've been acting weird for the past couple of days," I tell her getting straight to the point, no time to bullshit.
"Weird? Weird How?" she asks tilting her head in curiosity. Fuck that's cute but it's not the time to think about that.
"Don't think I'm fucking blind to see how you've been acting with me," I say to her bluntly and she looks at me silently for a couple of seconds before letting out a quiet laugh.
"I had some things to work out but don't worry I'm fine, trust me," she says with a wide grin, the smile brightening up her face and somehow her freckles stand out even more right now. Her expression doesn't waver as she grins at me, there's no point in me pressuring her to tell me what issue she had with me.
"If you say so," I reply as I stand up holding my hand out for her. She tentatively places her hand in mine as I pull her up, my hand dwarfing hers. "Everyone finish up the last bit of your stretches, team meeting before we head home," I say as I turn to the team.
"Is there something happening?" Anita asks me as the rest of the team joins us.
"We're going to be having a practice game with last year's seniors," I tell them. I watch the guys look at each other in surprise.
"Are they going to be here for Wednesday's practice then?"Derrick asks.
"That's the plan from what coach has told me," I answer with a frown.
"I'm surprised you're not saying anything else about this whole situation after what happened last year," Jason comments while everyone else nods their heads in agreement.
"Trust me I don't like this but it's coach's idea. If he tries to pull any shit again, I'll make sure he regrets it," I answer, the scowl on my face getting deeper. Last year, the setter Cason and I ended up in a big fight, considering he was an ass all the time, someone was going to eventually snap and it happened to be me. I was suspended for a month because of that fight and for sending him to the hospital. I'm one-hundred percent sure he'll still be the same jackass from last year. Anita looks at all of us in confusion but keeps silent and doesn't ask anything.
"So we're done here?" Sean questions and I nod my head.
"Let's get out of here," I tell them and we make our way to the lockers. I tune out the guy's mixed reactions for Wednesday, the juniors didn't see what happened but the rest of us were there that day. I don't bother changing out of my workout clothes instead opting to throw on a hoodie so I can go grab my textbooks before meeting Chris and Daniel at my car.
