I'm lying upside down on my sofa and even though I should be relaxing there's a small part of me that's a bit nervous just thinking about our upcoming game. Even though I confidently said I can't wait to go back and play them and get my revenge, there is still nervousness.

After all, they did spend the three years I was there trying to tear me down and even though I never gave them satisfaction there were some days it got to me. After this game I just want to put it all behind me, once and for all. My thoughts are interrupted when I hear a voice talking to me.

"What's running through your head kid? You only do this when you have something on your mind." I turn my head to see my mom standing beside the sofa looking at me in question. I turn my head away from her but I soon feel the sofa dipping as my mom joins me. My mom, Carla Jones is someone that I can easily and confidently confide all my secrets and worries to. "What's on your mind, Anita? Is it school? Grades? Boys?" she asks and I roll my eyes, laughing at the last one.

"Not really, it has to do with volleyball," I answer shrugging.

"Is someone from the team harassing you? If someone is hurting my baby you bet I'll be showing up at your school," she says as she punches her fist into her open palm while I laugh at her antics.

"Mom, don't worry. My worries have nothing to do with the team. Honestly speaking they get protective and defensive if an opponent was bothering me," I tell her as I think back to Logan and Cason. I'm worried about the upcoming game we're going to be having."

"You're not excited about it?" she asks, her tone laced with confusion.

"Of course I'm excited, I'm always looking forward to playing volleyball. It's just that we'll be playing against my old school," I reply and her face turns to one of understanding.

"I see and knowing you you're probably overthinking how it is going to be when you face them. If you will be confident or if you'll fall apart," she bluntly explains. I look at her in surprise considering the fact I haven't even gone into any detail yet.

"How did you know that?" I ask in surprise and her eyes are filled with mirth.

"Anita, a mother knows everything about her child even if they're not forthcoming about everything," she explains. "It also helps that I've overheard your brother's conversations about your old school when things got hard for you. All of them are adults yet they still forget about volume control and discretion," she says with a sigh as I let out a snort.

"Why am I not surprised to hear that," I say as I let out a sigh of my own.

"There's no reason for you to worry. You're on a team that accepts who you are and the talents that you have. Who cares about the other people. You have eleven boys that took you in and from what you've told me about them I have no doubt that if you were in trouble they would be there to help you heartbeat," she says in a soothing tone.
