The next day:
I text Jaiden and we met at "The Hurricane coffee shop."
I played on my phone while I waiting for her, sipping off my moacha.
Her delicious vanilla scent wafted at me and I looked up and smiled.
"Hey Jaiden"
"Hey keaton, whatsup?"
I ran my fingers through my hair.
"I ugh have something I need to talk to you about but go ahead and order first." I said.
"Okay.."
She looked worried.
Oh no I feel like such an moron! she probably thinks I'm randomly breaking up with her! I really hope that once this is over that, that doesn't happen. I don't want to lose my favorite girl.
She sat back down.
"Hey lay off the coffee Stromberg, you're already short" she joked ruffling my hair.
"Excuse me but I'm still taller than you Coulsen" I joked back.
"So uh what did you have to tell me?"
Ok here it is.
"So you know how me, my brother, and drew are in a band?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"Well we were picked to head down to California to audition for 'X-factor' and we have to leave on Sunday before school ends." I told her calmly.
"Congratulations!!"
A gave her a weak smile.
"Will you be back after Summer?" she asked getting choked up.
"Uh thats the thing I don't-"
She cut me off.
"I-I gotta go, sorry"
A tear streamed down her face as she got up ran out of the coffee shop.
"Wait Jaiden!!" I shouted chasing after her.
I caught up with her. I wrapped my arms around her.
"Jaid everything's gonna be okay, this isn't forever, I'm right here right now and that's all that matters."
I released my grip and walked around her so I could face her. I kissed her nose but she still wouldn't look at me, she just cried harder. I pulled her back into my shoulder, with her head pressed against my neck, and let my shirt get drenched.
A tear streamed down my cheek and hit her head, I hoped she didn't notice.
"Shhh it's going to be ok babe."
I said rubbing her back.
She finally looked up at me and kissed me "I love you Keaton"
Her eyeliner was smudged down her face but I still told her she was beautiful and wiped it off with my sleeve.
We began walking.
"So when do you think you'll be back?"
"I don't know. Im going to come back in July for my birthday and in September you can watch me on X-factor and remember that i'll be thinking about you the whole time."
"Keaton?"
"Yeah?"
"...I don't even deserve you."
Wait is she breaking up with me?
"What are you talking about?! I think it's the complete opposite! lol"
"Keaton."
"Stop. We don't need to do this Jaiden, please don't shut me out yet."
"what choice to I have? This hurts me just as much as it does to you!"
I got mad.
"This is exactly what I was afraid of!
I'm losing you before I'm even gone!"
I shouted.
"Keaton don't be mad at me, I don't want our feelings to get in the way of losing my best friend!"
"You aren't going to lose me!"
"Promise?" She asked
"Promise! Even if were 3000 miles away! and remember, It's not goodbye, it's a 'see you later'".
Then we hugged.
