You shivered at the cold breeze that came through your window. You quickly shut it tight and wrapped yourself up in your blankets.

"(Y/n)," Rapunzel said bursting through your door. You groaned and covered your face with your pillow. "Come on, sleepy-head," she said taking hold of your feet and trying to pull you out of bed. You groaned as Rapunzel dragged you out of your room.

"Rapunzel," you groggily said. "Whatever this is about, can't it wait for like five more minutes?"

"Nope," Rapunzel said as she continued to drag you. "It's freezing out and we need to huddle in the den to keep warm."

"I'm warm enough under my blankets," you said.

"I know," Rapunzel said. "You have natural body heat, which should help us stay warm as well."

You sighed as Rapunzel pulled you I tot he den and sat down. It was peaceful for a while. You all just sat their sipping hot drinks in front of the fireplace and talking. Suddenly, it started to sound rough outside.

"Wow," Rapunzel said looking at the snow. "I haven't seen it snow this much since..." Rapunzel trailed off when she remembered more about the day she was thinking of.

"It's okay, Blondie," Eugene said.

"Yeah," Cassandra said. "It's all in the past."

Something suddenly occurred to you. "Arianna," you quickly said. "I need to talk to you for a minute. Alone."

"Okay," she said getting up and following you out of the room. "What's the problem?" she asked once you were out in the hall.

"I need the cell key," you said.

"What?" Arianna said confused.

"I know you don't like it when I let him out if Rapunzel or Fredric are here, but I can't just leave him alone down there," you said. "He'll freeze."

Arianna sighed. "Very well," she said pulling out a key. "Just be careful not to be seen by anyone who doesn't know about this arrangement."

"Yes ma'am," you said taking the key and heading for the dungeon. You stopped in front of two guards. "Queen's permission." You pulled out the key to show them. They nodded and let you pass.

You walked down a hall of cells until you came upon the one you were looking for. You put the key in the keyhole and unlocked the door.

"(Y/n)?" a faint voice said. You could tell their teeth were chattering.

"Hello, Varian," you said walking over to his side and pulling him up to his feet. You rubbed his hand with yours. "You're colder than ice. Come on, let's go warm you up." You led him out of the cell and carefully made your way around the castle without being seen.

You entered your room and sat Varian down in front of your fireplace. You grabbed blankets off of your bed and wrapped them around the two of you. You felt Varian shiver as you held him close to try and warm him up more.

"Sorry that I didn't come sooner," you said. "Much longer and you probably would have gotten frostbite." Varian didn't respond. He just continued to snuggle into you trying to keep warm.

"I could get you a hot drink," you said starting to get up.

"No," Varian said clinging tighter to you and pulling you back down. "Don't leave. Just stay. I don't want to be alone today."

You frowned a little and pulled him closer. You knew snow lead to bad memories for Varian. After what happened so long ago... it would be best to stay by his side until the snow passed.
