You groaned slightly as you opened your eyes. You were in a place you didn't recognize. You couldn't remember how you got there. You felt many blankets wrapped around you. You felt something on your head, and lifted your hand to find a warm rag.

"(Y/n)," you heard a familiar voice say. You turned your head towards a doorway and saw Varian as he approached you with a bright smile. "You're okay."

"Varian," you said pushing yourself up, making some of the blankets slide off of you.

"Woah," Varian said making you lay down again and putting the blankets back around you. "You gotta keep yourself in these layers. Without them you might get hypothermia."

"What happened?" you asked still feeling groggy.

"I found you out in the snow storm," Varian said taking the rag off your head and dipping it in warm water before placing it back. "I don't why you were out there, but you were pretty cold. No telling what could have happened ice we didn't run into each other."

"Wait!" you exclaimed sitting up in alarm. "Rapunzel! Mom! Dad! The kingdom! Is everyone okay?"

"Hey," Varian said gently placing his hands on your shoulders and laying you down once more. "It's okay. You don't have to worry about any of that."

You suddenly sat up again and hugged him tightly. "(Y/n)?" Varian said confused.

"I've never been so happy to see you," you said squeezing him tighter. He wrapped his arms around you and hugged you back.

The memories of the carriage crashing came flooding back to your head. You remembered how terrified you felt. Strangely enough, when you were in the storm fearing you might die, the person that came to your thoughts was Varian: your crush of several years. You hoped you would live just to see his face again. It looked like you got your wish.

"Varian?" you mumbled with your face pressed between his neck and shoulder.

"Hmm?" he responded stroking his fingers through your hair.

"There's something I want to confess," you said. "Something I've wanted to say for a long time now."

"What is it?" Varian asked.

You sighed, sitting up and looking at him straight in the eyes. "I..." you slowly started. "I, I have...I have a crush...on you."

Varian was silent as he stared at you, frozen. "Varian?" you said. "I'm sorry. I understand if you don't feel the same way. I just-mmph!" You were cut off when you felt Varian's lips on yours. Your eyes were wide with shock for a moment before closing in content.

After a minute or two, you pulled apart, leaning your foreheads against each other's. "You have no idea how long I wanted to say that to you," Varian said with a smile.

You blushed. "You mean...?"

"I like you, too," Varian said with a smile. You hugged him again, and he let out a small laugh.

"Okay," Varian said making you lay down again and pulling all the blankets over you. "You really should get some rest now." He turned to leave.

"Wait," you said grabbing his wrist, making him turn around to look at you.

"You're warmer than all these blankets combined," you said. "Could you stay and cuddle me, please?"

"I can't say 'no' to that face," Varian said with a smile.

You quickly scooted over and made room for him. Varian crawled in under all the layers and laid next to you. You snuggled up to him, nuzzling your head into the crook of his neck, and he wrapped his arms protectively around you. You dozed off in a matter of minutes.

A fair amount of time later, Varian woke up and looked at your sleeping form. He smiled as he moved a stray hair out of your face and placed a kiss on your forehead. He slowly got up, making sure not to wake you, and went to the kitchen. He started to make you some hot soup when, suddenly, there was loud banging in the front door.

"Open up in the name of the king!" a voice yelled. The door was busted down, and guards flooded into the house.

"The princess!" they exclaimed upon seeing you. You sat up, having been awakened by the loud racket.

"(Y/n)!" Varian exclaimed running to you.

"You," a guard said picking Varian up by his collar. "You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Kidnapping a poor, defenseless princess in the middle of a blizzard."

"Kidnapped?" Varian said. "But I didn't-" He was cut off as the guard threw him onto the floor.

"Varian!" you exclaimed. Guards came over to you, picked you up, and headed for the front door. "Varian!" you exclaimed again.

"(Y/n)!" Varian exclaimed trying to go after you, but the guards held him back.

The guards took you back to the castle, where you saw your family worried sick. "(Y/n)!" they all exclaimed rung up to you. Fredric held you up in his arms.

"Are you alright?" Arianna asked.

"We heard about the carriage incident," Rapunzel said.

"She was apparently kidnapped by that boy in Old Corona," the guard said. "We found her being held as a hostage in his home."

"But I-" you tried to say.

"Shush now," Fredric said. "You don't have to worry. You're safe now, and we'll keep you away from that boy."

"But-" you tried to say again.

"We better get you to your room," Arianna said. "You'll need plenty of rest."

They took you to your room, placed you on your bed, tucked you in, and left the room. You silently cried. All you wanted at that moment was your Varian there to cuddle you.

Meanwhile, Varian was on his knees in front of the amber that held his dad. He was gone, and now you were gone. He thought he had hope when he found you that he wouldn't have to be alone, but they just took you away. First his dad, then you, his love. He clenched his fist and gritted his teeth. That's all the royals did: take. But he would make them pay. They all wold pay, and he'd have his dad and you back. You'd be by his side forever if it was the last thing he'd ever do.
