I woke up, bleary eyed, but feeling entirely relaxed. Peter laid in front of me, his green eyes closed, still fast asleep. I noticed that the fire was now just a few burnt logs with a trail of smoke and the rain had stopped, showing a nice partly cloudy day. I smiled.
Peter looked so adorable when he was sleeping. I couldn't help but think about last night, when he held my hand and almost kissed me. The thing is, though, I knew nothing about him. Why was I so eager to kiss him? It may have been going to be my first kiss but that was a pathetic excuse to just give myself to him. I mean, Peter is good looking and stuff, but there is no way I'd ever like him. He's an immature boy that used my trust to gain trust by sending me into a pirate infested village. Totally not my type.
Thinking of Baytown led me to think about Hook. How on earth did that freak know my name?! I mean, I just arrived here and people aren't bound to know that already, are they? And I don't think Peter would be stupid enough to tell him who I am.
Pushing my worries aside, I decided to just listen to the waves crash on the beach outside. It was a sound I was familiar with, a sound that reminded me of days spent lounging on the beach with my parents, of days spent racing Riel to the water but always losing, of nights where the moon watched me make s'mores. It was a sound that made me want to go home even more.
A wave of home-sickness crashed over me and a tear slipped from my eyes. Gosh, I hate being an over-emotional girl.
I watched the tear fall to the ground and land on a flower. Wait.... last night there were no flowers.... just dirt and sand. I sat up, confused. All around where I slept, was a bed of flowers and grass. I noticed that the flowers and grass only grew around me, no where else, not even near Peter. I creased my eyebrows. Flowers and grass just don't grow over night... especially if someone is sleeping on the ground that they're growing on. Even if it happened to be magic, I'm sure the flowers and grass would be smushed from my body. But none of them were. And, honestly, they felt like a tempur-pedic mattress that you see in those lame commercials. I couldn't even tell I was laying on flowers and grass till I saw them.
I shook my head, trying to get this bizarre situation out of my head. I took out my bag and fished through it, looking for food. I haven't really had anything since I got here and I was starving.
I pulled out an apple and some bread. I looked at the apple suspiciously, remembering what Riel said. I decided against eating it and just went for the bread, which wasn't too bad. I ate half of it, saving the rest for Peter. I really hope that he has food on Neverland.
I wanted to take a look outside, so I took off my cloak and covered Peter with it, so he can be warm and I can feel a little bit free in this dress. I walked outside the cave, hesitantly making sure that no one was waiting out there to kill me. Waves crashed on the beach and a light breeze wafted through the air. It felt amazing out here. I walked closer to the water, feeling the sudden need to take off these boots and put my feet in. Riel would love this.
Unlike in California, this water looked like I was in Hawaii. The water was crystal clear blue and I could see every fish and coral reef for a couple miles. I saw some dolphins out in the distance, enjoying their morning swim. Manta rays swam by along with some jellyfish. I just had to go for a swim. I've never seen water so beautiful before.
I climbed up some rocks, hoping to get a better view of this place. I sighed at the sight.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I heard a silky voice say.
I looked down, to see a mermaid sitting on the side of the rock, her tail halfway in the water. She was gorgeous, way prettier than anyone I've ever seen. Her caramel skin was flawlessly smooth. Her black hair, which held one strand of blue hair, fell down to her thigh, covering her breasts. Her tail was an iridescent blue, her scales shining in the light of the morning sun. She wore a pearl necklace that caught my attention, as well.
