Sam's POV

Talia pulled into Ashton's driveway.  His house was always my favorite.  His parents put a lot of money into their house.  It was basically a mansion.  I was always secretly jealous of Ashton's family.  They seemed to not have a care in the world because of all the money they had.  It was stupid to be jealous though.  I never told or shared emotion of jealousy towards them.

Right after Talia pulled in, Liz was next.  We all got out of the cars and Ashton went to the front door and unlocked it.

"My parent's were supposed to come home tonight after their dinner party but they decided to stay in a hotel for the night because of the storm."  He said as we all walked into the large, empty house.  He went over to the light switch and put on the light.  I was so thankful they had a generator.

We all went into the large living room and sat down.  All of us were quiet.

"Let's do something!"  Liz said.  We all glared at her.

"Not something bad."  She told us.

"Like what?  There's nothing to do."  Calum said.

"Do you guys remember when we would play hide and go seek in the dark?"  Ashton said.  We nodded and smiled.

"I'm up for a game to relive some childhood memories."  He smiled.  We all agreed and split into teams of two.  It was me and Ashton, Calum and Alexa, Liz and Michael, and Luke and Talia.  Calum and Alexa offered to seek first.  We all ran off while they stayed in the living room and counted for three minutes.  Ashton and I ran off into the basement/den.

"I know the perfect place."  He whispered.  We went down the stairs and on the far side, opposite of the door.  There was a small closet they used for blankets and we both squeezed in.  He silently closed the door and we sat back.

"I'm glad you suggested this.  I forgot how much fun this was."  I smiled.  He smiled back and we waited in silence.  Occasionally we would both start laughing because of how silent it was.  We heard footsteps running around upstairs.  Two pairs of feet started walking down the steps and we kept quiet.  Alexa and Calum moved things around looking.  Finally, footsteps came infront of the door.  The door swung open and Ashton and I sighed.

"Gotcha!  It's okay though, you were the last ones."  Alexa said.  We got out of the closet and followed Calum and Alexa upstairs.  Liz and Michael were the next ones to count since they got found first.  This time, I led Ashton to where we'd hide.  I took him up to his bedroom and into the walk in closet.

"You're a genius."  He whispered.  He knew exactly where I was going.  I got on my hands and knees and went over to the crawl space in his closet.  We both just fit.  I moved the shoe rack over us so it was harder for someone to see us.

I was always closer to Ashton.  He was my first friend.  When we were younger, we used to come in this crawl space and just talk about little things.  Like if we'd still be close when we grew up or if we'd ever lose contact.  The crawl space was a place where no one could find us.

After about fifteen minutes, we both got out from the crawl space.  We were too big to stay in there cramped up any longer.  We snuck across the hallway and to the linen closet.

"We have a thing for closets."  I giggled.

"Don't you know the rules for hide and seek is to stay quiet!"  Liz said as she opened the door.

"Sorry."  I laughed.

"Last ones again, good job guys."  She laughed.

Luke and Talia were counting next.

"I'm going to sit out this round.  I need to use the bathroom."  I said.  I went to the bathroom while everyone continued the game.  As I was washing my hands, the lights began to flicker.  I continued to wash them and dry them off.  As I was about to walk out of the bathroom, the lights went off completely.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me."  I said to myself, annoyed.

"Guys!"  I called out.  No reply.  I walked downstairs and moved my way around to the living room.  I sat on the couch, waiting for everyone to come back.  After a few minutes, I felt someone touch my shoulder.  I jumped and turned around to see Alexa.  She looked terrified.  Calum wasn't near her.

"Alexa, don't-."  I started to say.

"Shh."  She whispered.  "Something's wrong."  She motioned for me to follow her.  She grabbed my hand so we wouldn't get seperated.  She moved around the house and went upstairs.  I followed her into one of the spare bedrooms.  Alexa then went into the bathroom that was connected and into the closet inside the bathroom.  We sat down and shut the door quietly.

"What's going on?  I was in the bathroom and the power went out."  I said.

"I don't know.  But generator's don't usually go out randomly like that.  When the lights went out, Luke and I got out of our hiding spot to see what happened.  He told me to sit and wait and he'd be back.  I waited but he didn't.  Someone planned this."  She said.

"What do you mean someone planned this?"  I asked.

"I mean, someone knew the generator would turn off and now something else is going to go wrong." At that moment, the closet door swung open.
