~~~Vic’s POV~~~
Once the doctor said the room number for Ashley, I was off. I just want her to be okay… I’m waiting patiently in the elevator, but it stops on the 4th floor. I sigh, and wait for the person to get on. It is a mom, daughter and dad all holding hands. The dad is covered in tattoos and the daughter has long brown hair and cute dimples. The mom has long blonde hair and has bright blue eyes. The dad is holding the little girls hand, and for some reason this family reminds me of Mitch Lucker’s family. I really wish that Ashley and I could end up like that in the future.
“daddy, can we go to the playground?” the little girl asks.
“of course we can sweetheart.” he replies looking down at her and smiling. I smile because this is practically Mitch’s family.
The elevator dings and it knocks me out of my thoughts. I go out and run to Ashley’s room. When I am finally there, I look through the small window on the door and what I see makes me break down. She is just laying there. Lifeless. Pale. A cast on her left arm, meaning she broke her wrist and elbow, and another cast on her right foot. I am sobbing on the floor right in front of the door to her room, and I’m just sitting there for about 5 minutes when I feel a hand on my back. I turn to see Tony with tears in his eyes also.
"come on dude. She wouldn’t want to see you like this.” He’s right. Ashley would want me to be in there with her, not out here balling my eyes out. I grab his hand and he pulls me up. I open the door and start crying again. I practically run over to the seat next to her and grab her hand tightly.
As soon as I grab her hand, I use my other hand to stroke her hair. I know she can’t see me, feel me touching her, or hear me, but being able to see her makes everything a little bit better for me.
“Hey darling. I know that you can’t hear me, but I love you. The doctors think you will be okay, and that is all that matters. Once you wake up, we’re going to go back on tour. Theresa is okay. You broke a few bones, but that will heal. I love you. You look so beautiful. I wish you could look me in the eyes. I miss your eyes. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms again. I know I’ve said this a million times, but I love you. You mean the world to me. Almost losing you really puts life into perspective, and I need to appreciate every moment with you. I probably look stupid right now, talking to you even though you can’t hear me, but I love you, my darling.”
I leaned down and kissed the top of her head. I let my lips linger there for a while. Her skin still felt warm and soft. She felt like my Ashley.
I sat back in my chair and kept rubbing slow circles in her hand. I was looking at her when I heard a knock on the door. I yelled come in, because I didn’t want to leave her side yet. I just got here. Then, Mike, Jaime, Tony, Kellin, and Theresa walked in the door. Theresa had a cast on her right wrist and a few cuts and bruises on her face and arms. When they walked in, I could see the sadness in all of their eyes. I couldn’t stand to look at them when they were so sad.
“Do you mind if we talk to Ashley for a minute?” Jaime asked, sounding serious for the first time.
“Of course, go right ahead.” I kissed her hand and squeezed her hand before I got up and went to Mike, who’s arms were wide open for me.
Jaime went to Ashley’s side and gave her a peck on the cheek.
“Uh, hey Ashley. I know you can’t hear me, but I’m trying to be serious right now. Shocking, I know. I really hope you wake up soon. The guys aren’t as fun to mess around with. I miss making fun of you all the time. You’re like my best friend and I love you.”
From Jaime’s voice, it sounded like he was going to cry, so he got up. Theresa took his place and sat next to Ashley.
“Hey Ashley. My god, I’m sorry. I wish it was me in your position and you were the one talking to me. This really sucks, ya know? I’m sorry, I’m not very good at this. I get emotional. I’m so glad you’re my friend though, and I know you’re going to be okay, I will make sure of it. I know I will visit you every single day, Vic and I will always be by your side. I love you like a sister, I hope you know that.”
Theresa got up and I quickly went back to Ashley’s side.
“Hey Vic, it’s getting kinda late. I’m going to take Theresa home, but she will be back tomorrow.” Kellin said. He walked over to me and gave me a comforting hug.
“Thanks for coming today, I appreciate it.”
"No problem Vic. I’ll see you tomorrow.” And with that, Theresa and Kellin left.
“We’ll be here until they tell us visiting hours are over and then we’ll take you home, alright bro?” Tony said.
“yeah. Yeah, of course. Thanks guys.”
Nobody said anything, they just smiled at me sympathetically. At 8 o’clock, a nurse came in and told us that we had to leave, but that we could come back tomorrow. I gave Ashley a long kiss before I got up and walked away. The guys led me to the car, and we were silent all the way home.
