AS IT TURNED out, Pinterest wasn't very useful when planning a successful date while trying to be a macho manly man.
This fact had shaken Matthew to his very core.
He reminisced about the night when the bet was placed, chiding himself for not grasping the opportunity to ask Jax exactly what setting would make the perfect date. And still, three days later, he had not the slightest clue of what to do.
He knew that time was ticking away, and if he didn't act soon, winning the bet or being with Arianna would slip out of his fingers. That was a road he wouldn't take.
With that notion weighing heavily on his mind, he couldn't stop his next actions.
"Hello?"
Matthew sucked in a sharp breath as Arianna's voice filled his ear, her silky tone just as captivating as when he met her.
"Hello?"
Phone clasped tightly in his hand, Matthew quickly reminded himself that a relatively normal conversation consisted of two or more individuals. "Hey, Arianna. This is Matthew."
The line was silent for a moment before she spoke, this time, her voice giddy and faint. "Matthew... what a surprise. I thought you'd forgotten about me or something."
Girls like the bad boy who is actually just a warm teddy bear at heart.
Jax's words prompted him to speak, "Never. I'd be an idiot to do a thing like that."
The soft giggle she emitted convinced him he was on the right track. "I'm flattered."
"So... there's actually a reason why I called you today."
"Oh?" She feigned inquisitiveness and he could practically hear the smirk in her voice. "And what would that be for?"
"As it turns out, I have absolutely no plans for tomorrow night... any idea what I should do?"
"Hm, well if it were up to me, I think I'd invite a semi-lonely girl out for a night out on the town."
"Do you happen to know anyone who'd be interested?"
"As it just so happens, I do."
They shared a brief laugh together, the tension from their first shared words gone. Matthew was surprised at just how well their conversation was going, but then again, it was only a phone call, not an actual date.
"So what time should I expect to be picked up?"
"How does seven sound?"
"Sounds like I have a date."
