Chapter 4

Sammy POV

i keep hearing Jaime's name around school. mostly whispers, but i see it go from one person to another. i hope she isn't getting bullied again. she wasn't in science. i really hope she is ok. knowing Jaime she wouldn't miss lunch without telling me. i guess we will find out if she is ok during lunch. i walked into the cafeteria and there she was. she was sitting at the same table we sat at for the past 2 years. she was looking at Hayes who was in the lunch line. he had just got his lunch and he was looking around. I'm guessing for Jaime. He spotted her and smiled. she motioned him to go over to our table. i started walking over to them. i greeted both of them and then Jaime told me something weird. "thanks for earlier Sammy. it felt really good knowing someone still cared about me."

"I'm sorry Jaime. but what are you talking about?"

"earlier when i was crying and you helped me."

"I'm going to be right back." Hayes said he seemed really uneasy something was definitely going on.

"Jaime I'm sorry but that wasn't me. but i can take a guess at who it was." and i nodded towards Hayes walking away.

"you really think it was Hayes? i mean they were wearing a hoodie so i couldn't really see. but Hayes was the one to punch mason."

"WHOA! why did he need to punch him in the first place!"

"oh um mason cheated on me with Amanda."

"Oh I'm so sorry Jaime." i said

Jaime POV

when Sammy told me it wasn't him that helped me the questions just started flowing back in. i was so confused. ill just have to ask Hayes when he comes back.

Hayes POV

when Sammy told Jaime it wasn't him who comforted her i got really nervous. what would she think? will she think I'm weird? will this ruin my friendship with my first friends? agh! i got up and left i ran into lakean and i think the guy next to her was Trevor. but he honestly didn't look like an Trevor. i kept walking. i was halfway down a hall when i realized i didn't know where i was going. i walked back to the cafeteria. i was stopped by Jaime. "Hayes. Can i ask you something?"

"sure."

"was it you that helped me when i was crying?" i looked at my feet awkwardly with my hands in my pockets.

"yea. im sorry if that's weird." i said and she just looked at me with a smile. i couldnt help but smile back. her smiles are contagious. she hugs me and i hug her back.

"Hayes?"

"yea?"

"please just be honest with me from now on?"

"Of course." i think i was falling for the Jaime Winters.
