Chapter Thirteen

The Alliances?

Ashley POV

"As you all know, the recent shootout I faced is the reason behind this." Tyson continued, standing up from the sofa. I remained quiet, processing his words.

"We're not going to kill her, right?" Noah asked with a slight groan, leaning against Mason's chair.

"Excuse me?" I blurted, staring at Tyson. He shook his head, calmly.

"He's just joking, we don't murder innocent girls." Mason assured, glaring at Noah. I raised an eyebrow, suspiciously.

"Or women." Tyler added with a shrug and Noah chuckled nervously when he caught me staring at him.

"Nor children." Chase confirmed as well.

"My bad, I thought the Boss was changing the rules." Noah claimed with an upside-down smile.

"The boss? Does he mean the Mafia boss or you as their gang leader?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at Tyson as he leaned casually against the wall.

"She knows about the family too?" Chase turned to Tyson, taken aback.

"That could be a problem." Tyler added, his gaze hardening as he glanced at Tyson.

"Just to clarify." I said, lifting a hand slightly, "I know very little about this organization."

My voice was steady, but I wasn’t about to pretend I wasn’t curious. "I don’t know how many gangs are involved, who the district leaders are, or anything about this 'Boss' you all keep mentioning."

"Only the district leaders in the alliance have seen the Boss." Noah’s tone was tense, his gaze sharp.

"And the scouts." I recalled, glancing at Tyson. Noah gave a curt nod.

"And any subordinate who steps out of line." Tyler added, his fingers brushing the scar over his eyebrow before he rolled his eyes.

"I’m sure she knows what she needs to for now." Mason’s tone was calm, but his words were deliberate. Tyson gave a small nod in agreement.

Noah tilted his head, studying me. "So, you’re not afraid of us?"

"Should I be?" I asked, brushing the fringes of my hair out of my face. Noah smirked, a flicker of amusement in his eyes.

Tyson broke the silence, gesturing toward me. "She knows just enough to understand the basics. That’s all that matters for now."

His tone shifted, more serious now. "We confirmed that a gang from the western side was behind the shootout. After reporting to the Boss, the response was predictable."

"The western side?" I repeated, focusing on him.

"There are four main underground organizations in the city." Tyson began, his voice low. "Each side—north, south, east and west—has its own gangs and every one of those gangs is loyal to their respective organization leaders." He raised four fingers to emphasize the divisions.

I tilted my head, processing this. "And the Mafia runs all of them?"

"Exactly." Tyson replied. "The Mafia oversees all four organizations by appointing two leaders per district—one as the head and the other as second-in-command. They maintain order and ensure the gangs follow the rules."
