After Brody ran away from Mackenzie:
The future Queen Bee walks down the hallway like she owns the place. Everyone stared at Mackenzie while she waltz in. A group of students are crowding around her as if she's the next Miss America. Her rival notices that the crowd around Mackenzie used to be her own crowd. She growls and walks furiously towards Mackenzie. She pushes through the crowd with force.
"What the heck is going on here?!" Nickole screams out. Mackenzie turns around to face her. The look on her face shows confidence, not fear. "Oh, hey there. Do you need anything?" Mac asks her, as if she's nothing more than a low-class. "Excuse me? How dare you speak to me like that! I'm the Queen he--" Suddenly, Brody steps forward.
"Mackenzie, there you are. I need to talk to you for a second..." He hesitates after he found out the tension between the two girls. Mackenzie scoffs and walks past Nickole by giving her a little bump on the shoulder. Nickole just stares back with anger in her eyes before walking off.
In a dark corner of a hallway, Brody stops. He starts giving her a disappointing look in her direction. "Mac, are you ok? You're not usually like this," he stutters. Mackenzie laughs in response. "What do you mean? I was always like this. It just came late," she shrugs. Brody didn't even want to speak to her. He thought he found the perfect girl and yet, here she is, nothing more but a wannabe top-tier.
"Mackenzie, did you know I had a crush? Ahem... On you." Mackenzie stares at him in shock. Her eyes were wide from his inconvenient crush. Face to face. "W-what? I mean, I'm flattered..." She says while twirling her hair on her index finger. "Yep. But I did say had. I don't have one anymore. So, you're not having me." She glares at him. "You confessed and now you say that you don't like me anymore? You know, I have a crush on you too but I guess it's not happening." Brody nods.
"I'll make him mine. I'll do whatever it takes for him to be mine...."
"Sorry Mackenzie. Before, you were beautiful and now look at you. This isn't the girl I once liked. Goodbye then. Be popular in your own way." Mac tries to force a smile anyway. "No problem. See you." Brody walks away and didn't came back to her. That is something he would do if he meant seriousness. Mackenzie touches her cheek and notices she has mascara dripping down. Her eyes are watery and couldn't keep from the salty water escaping. She's crying silently, alone, in a dark hallway filled with nothingness but dull lockers.
---
Since noon, Mackenzie didn't speak with anyone. Ever since that little talk to talk with Brody, she felt empty. She thought being like this is something that Brody would like but this wasn't the case. He hates her now. And there's nothing she could do about it.
Mackenzie unexpectedly bumps right into Nickole, making her angry in the process. "Watch it, loser! Do you really think I'll let a skank like you take my precious boyfriend away from me? No. And never will."
Mackenzie switched to being sad, to a blazing anger. "Are you jealous?" She dangerously whispered. Mackenzie wants her to be scared because she's got something planned since a long time. "Oh, we're gonna play this way aren't we? Well, it's on! Let's see who's the best Queen of the school. The winner gets to have Brody."
Mackenzie's anger flared. How dare she oppose me like this, she thought. She clenched her fists and clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Fine. One rule, your puppets cannot be in this battle."
Nickole signalled her servants to back off and to sit back. They did what they were told and watched silently in the background. "I'm ready whenever you're ready," she said in a devilish manner.Mackenzie grabbed her purse from her arm and rummaged through it. Nickole looked at her, confused with this situation. After rummaging, Mackenzie took out a glass bottle with a huge cockroach. "Um, get that thing away from me," Nickole said, backing off a few centimetres.
Mackenzie smirked in delight and dropped the bottle, smashing it into a million pieces onto the floor, including the bug escaping from its inclosure. "Oops... My fingers slipped," she giggled. Nickole shrieked as the bug crawled on her, climbing up her leg. Mackenzie took out her phone and recorded the whole thing. Her little plan is to make her life horrible and this is the first step.
She continued shrieking while the bug was still crawling all over her. The students in the hallways were looking at her direction, figuring out if she's acting crazy.
Suddenly, Brody came towards their direction, anger written all over his face. "What the hell is going on here?!" He yelled. Mackenzie stood at her spot, her phone done recording the scene. Meanwhile, Nickole looked at Brody and pointed at the bug on her. "PLEASE get this thing OFF OF ME!" Brody picked off the little creature off of her and clasped it around his hand. He went outside really quick to set it free and came back in. She blushed a bit while he just stared at her with cold eyes.
"Mackenzie did this on purpose. She's the one you should be mad at!" Mackenzie looked at her with a look that could kill. "I did not. I said it was an accident. That bug was for a school project," she explained in a high pitched voice. "I don't care who did this or who did that. You two need to calm down! We're mature teenagers, not kids. Besides, why were you two fighting now instead of before?"
The girls did a quick glance at each other. They don't want to say the reason why. "Because," Nickole spoke, "it's time to show the hierarchy that one of us will rule the school once and for all." Mackenzie nodded in agreement. Brody face-palmed, obviously disappointed for the sake of popularity. "Mack," he sighed, "I can't believe you. I had a crush on you and I left Nickole because she wasn't my Type and now, you're doing the exact same thing. I can't love a girl like that, I'm sorry. I don't want to be with either of you," he deadpanned. The girls stood there, not knowing what to do.
"HEY Nickole! Awesome video by the way. This is going straight to UTube," someone yelled out to her from across the hallway. Nickole looked behind her, unsure of what he's talking about. "What? I have no idea what you're talking about," she stated. Mackenzie tried so hard not to smirk from behind. She sent that video to everyone in the school while Brody talked to Nickole. The student rushed towards Nickole, showing her a video of her freaking out over the bug. She widened her eyes in shock. "No... This can't be happening. Who send this to you?"
"Oh, 2 students captured it actually. That is soooo hilarious! Can't you be even more funnier?" The student laughed his way up the corridor, leaving the popular girl jaw dropped. "I can't believe this. My reputation will be ruined at this rate!" She pushed aside Brody and Mackenzie to run away from the embarrassment. They watch her running and crying while her puppets are trailing behind her.
As soon as she left, Brody looked at Mackenzie deep into her eyes. She smiled and batted her eyelashes in a way to flirt. "MACKENZIE!" He snapped. "Oh. Yes dear Brody?" She cooed. "What is the meaning of this? I told you, I don't like you. Get over it. We're done, ok? DONE. I don't want anything to do with you. You may be beautiful now, but you have an ugly heart. Look at what you'd become. This isn't the girl I know. I think," he closed his eyes for a minute, tears welling up. "I think it's time for us to break apart. I'm sorry."
Mackenzie had no words left. She shook in her place, not believing what she heard officially. She looked down, her hair falling covering half her face. "I- I really want to-" she struggled to find her words. "No. Not happening. Just give it up, okay? No more games. I should go now. My buddies are waiting for me." He spun around, ready to leave his feelings for her back in the past.
"This... Is for the best. Trust Me." Those are his last words before he walked away, forgetting everything about her in the process. Mackenzie slumped on the ground, hands covering her crying face. She cried and cried, until a brunette saw her. Nicky offered her help. Mackenzie looked up, rage building up, tearing apart her body. She flashed a smile to the brunette and said those exact words:
Are you ready for the best change in history, little miss brunette?
