Mackenzie Hollistery, just a normal girl living her usual life. Nothing will change right? Not until, she lost her best Friend. This time, Mackenzie had clouds over her head.

"Hey mom, why do we have to move?" Little Mackenzie asked. Her mother looked at her quizzically. "Honey, I'm married to someone else. I'm not with your father anymore. Surely, you must know how it works. Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to all your friends."

Mackenzie watched her mother packing up boxes and bringing them inside the trunk of the car. Mackenzie walked over to her friend's house, a sad look painted on her face. Her friend who's playing in the backyard, smiled as Soon as she noticed her coming to her direction.

"Hey Mackenzie! Wanna play ball?" Mackenzie looked down, clearly not in the mood.

"What's up? Is something wrong?" Her friend came rushing towards her, standing by her side.

When Mackenzie looked up, tears were streaming down on her cheeks. "Mack, what's the matter?" Mackenzie sobbed in her arms. "Oh Nickole, I'm moving away.." She tried to talk between the crack in her voice.

"W-what? This can't be happening. Is it because of your step father?" Mackenzie wiped away her tears. "Yes. We're moving because of him." Nickole groaned, clearly not liking this situation. She patted Mackenzie's head and spread her arms open for a hug. Mackenzie jumped into her warm embrace, knowing she'll never have this hug ever again.

"You know, we can always visit each other right? My mother doesn't have a phone but we have email though, I doubt you'll use it. Just don't forget about me okay? I'll always be your best friend." They hugged once more before Mackenzie broke it apart.

"I have to go. My mother is expecting me." They waved goodbye, hoping they'll see each other again.

"Get in the car," her mother urged her. Mackenzie sat in the back and crossed her arms. She hates moving. She hates this family. She hates her step father.

"Ugh, I don't get why you have to get married to him, mom. It doesn't make sense. I was perfectly happy right here." Her mother turned around from the passenger seat. "Hun, your stepfather found a new job. Won't it be nice to change a few things for once? Our family will have enough money for you to attend a good school. Don't you want that?"

Mackenzie huffed. She wasn't ready for a change in her life so soon. Of course, she attended a private school for girls, but the expenses were way too high for her mother to endure.

5 hours later...
"Finally," Mackenzie yawned, tired from the long car ride she had to suffer. "I'm going in the house. I better have a good room." Mackenzie opened the door, finding a staircase leading up to four rooms. Four rooms? She walked up the stairs, hoping to find a room big enough.

"MOM! Why is there four rooms?!" She yelled. "Ah, you'll see! Your room is the one on the left and please, stop screaming," she chirped. Mackenzie slammed the door open. As a result, she adored her new room. Her mood suddenly changed when her stepfather called her.

Mackenzie felt her blood boil inside her veins. He was the one who made her life change. Everything occurred because of him. She stomped down the stairs, looking for her so called stepfather. She found him in the kitchen, sitting down and laughing with her mother.

"What the heck are you doing huh? You're ruining my family. Have you got no shame? You're sick. I won't ever forgive you for this change. NEVER!" Her mother's jaw dropped, not expecting it coming. She stood up from her seat. "Mackenzie Hollistery, apologize right now!" Mackenzie eyed her with a disgusted look.

"What if I don't? He doesn't belong here. It's supposed to be just me and you but no, he came along. This is horrible. I can't stand him! Whatever, I'm not talking to him and you can't make me!" Before her mother could say anything more, Mackenzie left the kitchen, running up the stairs and slamming the door of her room.

A few minutes later, a knock on The door is heard. "Honey? It's me. Can you please open up? We need to talk." Mackenzie lifted her head up from lying down and sat straight up. "The door is open. Why don't you just come in yourself?"

Her mother entered the room and sat next to her on the bed. "What's wrong sweetie? You seem upset by this whole thing." Mackenzie nodded. "I am. He ruined everything. I don't want this mom. I never did. I wanted to stay back home, not here." She sighed. "Honey," she said while caressing her daughter's back, "you haven't given him a chance. Why are you judging him? He hasn't done anything bad. He does like you, you know. Get used to this change for me, alright? For me?" She let out a small smile.

Mackenzie couldn't look away. Her smile was such a warm feeling, that she started smiling too.
"Alright," she agreed, "I'll try." Her mother gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks sweetie. Now, go and excuse yourself to your new stepfather. Remember, nobody will ever replace your normal father."

Mackenzie walked down the stairs into the kitchen and saw her stepfather.
"Um... Marc?" Mackenzie said. Her stepfather turned around and saw her.

"Mackenzie I'm so sorry. I just don't know what came over me..."
"No I'm more sorry," She replied. "But it was true. So lets go get some ice cream and we'll celebrate. How's that?" he asked. "Oh yes please!" She replied.  And they went to the Milking Cow Ice Cream Shop.

Mackenzie had a chocolate fudge ice cream, her stepfather has a cookie dough ice cream, and her mother had a strawberry ice cream. They all went home after that.

The next day, Mackenzie woke up in her room in her bed.

'What happend?" She thought. She went down her bed and put on her cute little bunny slippers. She walked down the stairs but didnt see her mother or stepfather.

"Hello? Anyone here?" Mackenzie asked. "Hello?! MOM! STEPFATHER?!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Suddenly, she noticed that she was alone. "Oh my god... Where are they?" Mackenzie still looked and when she went in the kitchen, there was a note on the refrigerator.

It said: 'dear sweetheart, I am off to the hospital. Let's just say you'll have a nice surprise! I'll be back soon. P.S. food is on the counter and good luck in 9th grade.
Love, your mother :)"

"Oh. I'm alone. Eh, I'll manage. The bus is coming in 5 minutes anyways," and she ate breakfast, getting changed, and also brushing her teeth. She opened the front door and ran straight to her bus stop. At school, Mackenzie walked up the hallway to find her home room. "T-this is huge!" she said to nobody in peculiar.

Then, she found her class which is room 51A. She is taking a deep breath, and opening the door knob and...
OH NO! Everybody is in their classes already?!"

"Why hello Miss Hollistery. Welcome to your homeroom. This is english class so please why don't you find a seat?" Mackenzie did as she was told. She slumped down to next a boy.

"Now let's do rolecall!" The Teacher said. "Bill? Here. Kyle? Here. Madison? Here. Kayla? Here. Anthony?" The teacher paused. "I'm right here Miss," said a boy next to Mackenzie. "Mackenzie?" Mackenzie raised up her hand. "Good. Everyone is here. Ok class, today we are going to go to the library and..." Mac looked at the boy, daydreaming.

'He is so cute. I wish he was my boyfriend.' After deep in thought, the boy looked at her. Mackenzie blushed like a tomato. "Oh I'm so sorry! I've got lost in thought," she said sounding guilty. The boy said nothing and class continues.
