Authors note: Linda Eastman's character is going exaggerated and changed. This is not a paul and linda fanfic.
Something had changed. Linda Eastman-McCartney felt it in her bones. She was the girl who helped him cheat on Jane Asher, she knew the signs. After five years of marriage, Paul was different, a changed man. It wasn't one of the girls who outside the home. So who was it?
Linda was not dumb, she knew how to get men, rockstars mostly, but not how to keep them. Linda knew that Paul had married her because of his liverpudian sensiblities, first and formost being if you get a girl pregnant you marry her. She used that, poked holes in condoms, and had unprotected sex. It was not love.
But, Linda had fallen in love. Linda was in love with Paul. But Paul had not felt the same. No, the look in his eyes as he focused on her was not love. No, he had looked at Jane with love, at dottie with love, but linda was lust then defeat. It was not a look that a girl would want to see from someone who was in love with a man.
He walked in that morning, at 6:05 am, smiling with a light in his eyes that Linda had never seen before. He was humming his song, "Here, there, and everywhere" as he prepared breakfast. His hair still amiss from the activity that he had done the night before. Linda watched him from her hidden spot, wishing that it was her that caused this reaction. In the moments where he was acting like this, she could believe it was her. She brought the light to his eyes, the smile on his face, and the song in his mind. She, Linda, not a girl he bedded. She was the girl who was the beauty who captured his heart.
Linda walked up to bed and heard the door open at 6:15 am, she watched him. He was still smiling and not really paying attention to her. He was getting prepared for the day ahead of him, the baby wakes up in 10 minutes, Mary wakes up in 5 minutes. Linda watched as he looked at her, a mix of pity (another look she hated) and defeat. He stood at the foot of the bed and looked at his wife.
"I know you are a wake." Linda heard nothing but the hardness in his voice. "I knew it when I walked in." That was all he said. Words when the children weren't around were few and far between, Paul felt no need to pretend to be happy with Linda, who had caused him to be stuck. Sure, it was cold but the weather was even chiller if they talked.
When they talked, they yelled, screamed, and argued. It was a storm, linda hardly backed down and Paul popped his anger off. Linda did not know this but it was after their bi-weekly fight, that Paul went to get a drink, calm his nerves, at Marty. It was then that Kaye served him a drink and the affair began. Linda did not know this but that fight trigged a series of events that would change her families life forever.
Mary woke up first followed by Heather, who was carrying Stella in her arms. They all went to their parents room to knock on the door. Paul put on a smile, one that was real and genuine which was always the case if the kids were around. He may have a loveless relationship with the mother but that did not mean that he did not love his children, that was they only thing they both agreed on.
After that it was normal day, the kids who went to school got driven to school by Paul who was out. Linda was being a stay at home mom with Stella, doing the cleaning and cooking. Linda had to go out.
Linda went to the local grocery store when she saw a girl with brunette hair and blue eyes standing next to a hidden Paul. She listened in on the conversation.
"You are married." said the girl
"I know" said Paul
"Why are you doing this?"
"I want to..."
"No. Why? I don't want I want to.. You have kids, the youngest is 2. "
"I married her because I could not have a child out of wedlock."
Ouch
"Why? You could have kept the child's mother in a secure position without marriage then worked on your relationship."
Linda got her groceries and went home. She ignored what she heard.
