We all boarded the elevator one by one, a dark, prominent look of despair on everyone. The experience I had just went through was the most traumatic thing in my life. I have no words to describe the insurmountable amount of pure dread, confusion, fear, sadness, anguish, anger, pain, and misery I felt. These emotions bottled up inside of me like a whirlwind of despair, breaking away at all happy thoughts and good memories I had come to make.
Who is forcing us to participate in this killing game? And why does it have to be me? WHY?!
My thoughts were raging inside of me as the elevator went up. Any other preconceived notions on any hopes of escape were completely annihilated by the sheer amount of despair that resided inside my thoughts. Like a rat in a glue trap, we were stuck, waiting for the inevitable day death comes knocking on our door.
As soon as the elevator reached its destination, we all dispersed. I headed to my room, hoping to forget about this horrifying, nightmare reality. I tucked myself into bed, wiping away the tears I had kept in, and eventually fell asleep.
DREAM
I awoke at home, my home. I was eating breakfast with my mother and sister. 'A bowl of cereal is the perfect way to start the day,' she use to say. We were always having financial issues, we weren't poor or broke, she just had trouble serving food at the table every night, but she always put on a heart-warming smile when she had to talk to Allie and I. Allie is my little sister. She is normal, just like her older brother.
My mother slid a bowl of cereal towards me, "eat up."
It was a happy scene. Allie had just finished eating and started to beg mom for a new toy.
"I'll see what I can do," she replied.
Allie smiled and started to get ready for school. I was happy, something that had become foreign to me.
*knock* *knock*
I heard knocks at my door.
DREAM END
Ding, dong. Ding, dong.
"Goooood morning everyone! It is now 7:00 am. Let's hope today will be filled with joy! And by the way, make sure you head to the dining hall for a special surprise!"
My eyelids separated, exposing me to the irritating bright light of my room. I got up, contemplating whether I should go outside or stay in my room.
*knock* *knock*
I walked to the door, ignoring all of my other thoughts. Once I was at the door I asked, "who's there?"
I was met with a vague response, "uhhh... it's me..."
I opened the door cautiously and I saw the person on the other side, Tobias.
"Tobias? What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Um... because Amelia said so," Tobias replied vaguely, "she issued a new command which states that every student should meet up at the dining hall every morning, as a sort of check to see if everyone was safe."
"So I guess you're here to get me?"
"Y-yeah."
I walked outside with Tobias, and we started to chat.
"Thank you," Tobias said.
"For what?"
"That time in the class trial..."
