Ben's P.O.V:

Throwing my backpack on the ground, I headed over to my desk where my computer sat. I logged into Facebook, to see I had no new notifications. Bored, I checked Jenna's page - again, it's just something most of us do - but there was nothing. In fact, she doesn't even post about music... weird.

I got up and headed to my wardrobe, unsure on what to wear to the dinner. After looking through all of my clothes, I decided on a pair of dark skinny jeans and a plaid button-up. I didn't need to bother looking nice after all.

With the school talent show fast approaching and a few hours to spare before I had to get to Jenna's place, I decided to use my guitar and songbook to write a song. I had made a few friends who were interested in forming a band, and we already decided on Neck Deep as our name.

"And I don't care where you lay your head at night... Because with you it's all swings and roundabouts" I sang, writing all the lyrics down while I thought of them.

I decided to lay down and think, once I'd finished practising - this resulted with me falling asleep. I blame driving Jenna home and saving her butt last night for making me so tired.

"Ben! It's time to go!" I heard my mum call a few times, which woke me up again.

Once I'd dragged myself downstairs, I explained to my parents how I had to lie and say Jenna was over - just in case her parents mentioned it. They understood and thankfully, didn't even seem to mind. We all drove over to Jenna's, and I rang the doorbell once we arrived.

My eyes widened as Jenna opened the door. She looked great in her simple yet flattering black dress, with her curled hair hanging around her face.

"Hello, Mr and Mrs Barlow. Glad you could make it" Jenna greeted my parents, completely ignoring me - as if I did something wrong.

"Thanks for the invite" My mother wore a friendly smile, as we all walked inside.

Now that I was paying attention, unlike last night, her house was actually pretty nice. Her dad was watching a game of footy as he stood up and introduced himself, and her mum was in the kitchen cooking. I just wanted this to be over sooner rather than later.

"Ben, you and Jenna should go upstairs and hang out while we all get to know each other" My mum suggested, while I groaned quietly. Thankfully, no one seemed to hear.

I looked down at the couches where Jenna and I's fathers sat, cheering on their preferred team in the football game. My mum was already on her way to the kitchen where Jenna's mum was, so I figured there really was only one option for me, and that was to 'hang' out with Jenna.

Jenna's P.O.V:

I decided to go up to my room to separate myself from Ben, where I quickly shoved my clothes in my wardrobe and tidied everything up - just in case he did come upstairs.

I'm glad I did that, because that's exactly where he came.

"You can sit there," I murmured, pointing at a futon in my room.

Walking into my en-suite, I put some things away before heading back into the main part of my room – where I found Ben reading through my songbook.

"Hands off!" I exclaimed, grabbing the book from his hands. Some loose papers fell out, and he began picking them up for me. "I don't need your help."

"Yeah, well you needed it yesterday" he muttered, looking down at a picture that I had drawn of him.

"I was going to give it to you tonight... to say thank you for last night" I began, sighing. "Now I know what you really think of me, I guess it'd mean nothing to you."
