Chapter 23 - Hydra

Y/N's POV

I wake up to loud banging on the window. I grab a robe and go over to the window. I can't belive what I see. It's Mr. Jarvis. I open the window and let him in. "Mr. Jarvis, come in, hurry! Someone could see you! What are you doing here?" He steps in and says: "I am here because of Mr. Stark. Someone broke in. Thankfully he wasn't home at the time but we need the your help. Mr. Stark doesn't trust the SSR."

"Where is Howard now?" I am a little worried about him, he's my whole family. "He is safe in-", says Mr. Jarvis but I interrupt him. "Don't say it, someone could be listening. Do you know who broke in?" Mr. Jarvis nods, "Two men dressed in back, with masks. They looked like normal burglars. The only thing that was odd, was that they had an octopus on their arms. Both of them."

I was right, Hydra is still here. They never left. "Mr. Jarvis, have you ever heard about the organization called Hydra?" "Yes, but what does this have to do wi- Oh, you think Hydra tried to attack Mr. Stark?" "I don't think, I know. Let me get dressed and I'll call Peggy to help us. Maybe even Steve and Bucky." "Alright." I raise an eyebrow "Oh, sorry." He turns around and I put on a canary yellow dress with a broach that belonged to my grandmother. I don't bother to do my hair or apply my make-up.

Mr. Jarvis and I run down the stairs and out my the Griffith. I go to the nearest telephone booth and call Peggy. I have to wait for a pretty long time until Peggy's roommate answers. "Hello, this is Mrs. Josefine Gall, I would like to talk to Ms. Carter. Is she there?" Josefine Gall was the name I used when I went to the Hydra Ball, Peggy would know it's me. I can't say my real name in case someone is listening to our conversation. "Yes, Peggy's here, I just have to wake her up." I could hear footsteps, Peggy came to the phone. "Hello Mrs. Gall, couldn't have this call waited until later in the morning, it's four o'clock." "I'm afraid not. My second cousin is in trouble. It's about the seafood we've been researching lately. You know, the one with eight legs and the head that grows back. Me and my friend will pick you up. Hurry!"

I leave the booth and go to Mr. Jarvis. "We can't go with your car. They could see us. They are everywhere, they attacked me and James too. We'll have to steal a car." I go over to the car that belonges to Molly's "brother", who sometimes visits her. He left the doors unlocked and the key inside, he must have been in a hurry. Mr. Jarvis drives and we get to Peggy's apartament in ten minutes. She is already waiting outside. We tell her to get in and she obeyes. "What did you tell your roommate?" "Someone fainted at the company and I have to do their job. She belived me. Where are we going?" Mr. Jarvis answeres "To Mr. Stark's mansion where you and Ms. Y/L/N will investigate and I will clean up the mess." Peggy nods and we remain silent the rest of the drive.

The gate is wide open when we arrive and Mr. Jarvis assures us that he closed it when he left. This means other intruders could have broken in. Peggy decides that we need help because we are sure that we are outnumbered. We go inside and Mr. Jarvis picks up the nearest telephone and calls Steve and Bucky while I go down to Howard's lab with Peggy. Before Peggy opens the door that leads to the lab I look for the nearest object that could be used for self-defence because I forgot to bring any weapons. I spot a broom leaned agains a little table and grab it. Peggy opens the door and we see people lying on the floor. We find out that they were all alive after we check their pulses. Steve and Bucky arrive and we split up into two teams to search the mansion. Bucky and I will search in the basement and the garden and Peggy and Steve on the first and the second floor.

"Does this count as a date?" Really, is this what he is thinking about? "No, this counts as a mission. You do have a gun for me, don't you?" "Of course, angel." Bucky hands me the weapon and lets me be in charge. We slowly walk around the basement. No one is there and we didn't hear any strange noises. Now we have to go to garden. I'm terrified of the garden, mostly because of the Maxima, the crocodile- alligator. We walk out and Maxima is in her cage-thing. We search the garden and don't find anything until we get to the bushes. There was a broach that I instantly recognise.

It belonged to my mother, she used to wear it on her hat. I always knew that my mother supported Hydra's beliefs, now that I think about it , it looks a lot like their symbol. Maybe this is something the women of Hydra wear. I wouldn't be surprised if someone working for Hydra would seduce Howard.

Once we meet up with the others I explain everything to them and by the end of it we have to go to work.
