Steve helps me go over to the cockpit. I sit down in this big iron chair and turn to the control panel. It says: 'ZIEL New York'. Steve sees it too and gets scared. I can only imagine how he's feeling right now. I grab the control wheel and move it towards me, when it's in a position that is comfortable for my arms I move it towards the ground so we can land. Only after that I try to mess with the radio.

When it works I say: "Come in. This is Corporal Y/L/N. Do you read me?" "Corporal Y/L/N, what is your-" Jim says this but is cut off by Bucky. "Y/N/N, is that you? Are you alright?" I miss Bucky, Steve seems to relax a bit too. "Maybe some broken ribs but Schmidt's gone!""What about the plane?"Is he really concerned about the plane not my poor ribs? "That's a bit tougher to explain." That's it, that's all I can say. Human feelings are taking over.

"Give me your coordinates. Peggy'll find you a safe landing site.""There's not going to be a safe landing. We're in the middle of nowhere. But I can try and force it down." "No, don't. I'll get Howard on the line. He'll now what to do." "What does Howard know about planes that I don't?"

Steve decided to stop being the awkward third wheel. "There's not enough time. This thing is moving too fast and it's heading for New York." "I got to put it in the water" I almost called the plane 'her'. "Please don't do this. W-we've got time. We can work it out."

I look at the radar on the plane. "Right now we're in the middle of nowhere. If I wait any longer a lot of people are going to die. Bucky, this is our choice." I push the control wheel even further away from me so we are going faster towards the frozen water. "Bucky?" "I'm here", he doesn't sound slightly arrogant like he always does, he just sounds sad.

"I'm going to need a rain check on that dance" Just as I say this the engines die. "OK. A week, next Saturday at the Stork club. I'll take Peggy too. Eight o'clock on the dot and don't you dare be late.  Understood?" It feels nice to make plans that we both know won't happen. Tears are streaming down my face, forming little rivers. Steve speaks up. "You know I still don't know how to dance." "Peggy'll show you how. Just be there.", I can hear my heart breaking as Bucky says this.  "I'd hate to step on her-"

We crash. I can feel water making it's way in trough the destroyed plane. Cold water on my ripped uniform is the only thing I feel besides a lot of pain in my right foot before everything goes black.

I wake up with pieces of ice on my the exposed skin on my neck and face. I go to rub it off but when I move a jolt of pain travels down my right leg to my toes. I hiss because of the pain. "Steve", I only manage to whisper his name. No reaction. "STEVE", It takes all my strength to scream his name. Still no reaction. I'm getting worried.

I pull my leg out from under me. The sight I see scares me. It's been a long time since I have seen such a damaged limb. There is a long piece of metal sticking out my calf together with several little pieces of metal and glass. I try to move my leg and toes but they wouldn't budge. I'm certain something is broken. My other leg seems to be fine.

I stand up on my left leg and I limp over to Steve who is laying on the cold metal floor but he seems to be alright. I sit down besides him, standing up is too painful. I gently slap him on the cheek until he murmurs something. "Steve? Steve , wake up. Come on! Please." "Y/N?" "Yes. Steve, are you alright. Do you think you've broken any bones?" "What, no. I'm fine. What about you?" "My right leg is messed up but that isn't one of our priorities. We have to fix the radio."

Steve stands up and helps me stand up and walk over to the cockpit. Steve insisted that while I try to figure out the problem he removes the little pieces in my leg. It would be to dangerous to remove the big one. He also takes out a big piece of glass from my forehead that I didn't notice. I only had to put some wires back into their place and turn it to the right frequency.

"This is Corporal Y/N Y/L/N speaking. Captain Rogers and I need collection and medical attention. I repeat we need help." The Colonel picks it up. "Y/L/N? Where are you? What are your coordinates." It sounds like he cares. "Last time I checked our coordinates before we crashed they were roughly 42.433"N, -24.148"W" "We're on our way, Y/L/N. It will take us probably ten hours."

Eleven hours later the Colonel himself, two soldiers, three nurses and a doctor come to pick us up. They obviously check Steve first and come to the conclusion that he is perfectly fine. Me on the other hand. My leg is broken twice and my toes are frozen. I also have a slight concussion and two broken ribs.

Currently we are on our way to a hospital where I will be cared for properly and where the rest of the team is waiting for us. I guess I can't go dancing like this. But Steve and Peggy will finally have their first date. I already went on two with Bucky if we count the mission. Steve and Peggy have to catch up.
