Everything around us looked so pretty with all the colorful flashing lights. Every shop on this street had their lights on, there neon signs blinking through the windows. The street was packed with people and stalls of all kinds of little trinkets. It really was a sight to see and had everyone in a frenzy.
Seems as though Ryden and I had gotten our information wrong about the shops’ grand opening tonight. It was not just a shop; it was an entire street of shops. The first shop seemed to interest Ryden very much seeing as it had many antiques. She held out a satin carry pouch with something that looked like it was made of brass with silver plating.
“Oh my gosh Amaranth look!” Ryden squealed with excitement yanking on my arm.
“What is it?” I asked, looking cautiously at the item in her hands.
She gave me a look that practically shouted ‘Have you been living under a rock all your life!?’
“Ams, this here is called a ‘Witches Pendulum’”, holding out the small silver metal spiral pendulum looking thing in my face, she continued to explain. “The pendulum is a tool used for communicating and gaining guidance from the spiritual world. It’s one of the easiest methods of divination and is ten times more secure and accurate than a Ouija board. When using it for divination, the pendulum acts as an antenna that amplifies signals or energy vibrations emanating from a spiritual guide or the Divine energies you have called upon. Then these vibrations focus their attention on the pendulum and cause it to move in specific directions, giving you answers and guidance to the questions you put to the tool. Cool right? I cannot believe they have this here. The ‘Witches Pendulum’ along with other witchcraft items, has practically gone instinct. This is so exciting.” Ryden gushed.
I swear she was like a kid in a candy store. Ryden is too adorable sometimes. “I wonder what other things we’ll come upon in this shop.” Dragging me along the shop, Ryden had indeed found other forgotten items such as; a mini cast iron cauldron, a stone pentagram mortar and pestle, a triple moon chalice, a pewter butterfly candle snuffer, a rather small teal crystal ball, a couple of glass potion bottles with corks, herbs, oils and incense.
These witchcraft items have been long gone destroyed or lost and forgotten, or so Ryden has informed me about. I can see why Ryden would get so excited about finding such things here. I couldn’t help think how they ended up here. Finally heading to the register to pay, the round woman behind the counter looks at Ryden, smiles and greets her as though they have known each other their whole life.
“Oh my, welcome sister. It’s been awhile since I’ve met another.” The round brawns woman says coming around her counter and happily embracing Ryden.
Something on Ryden’s face changes from shock to something unreadable. Not quite surprise but it was close to what her face was expressing. The woman releases Ryden and moves back a little to examine her. Ryden does the same. Slowly the corners of Ryden’s lips turn up into a smile.
“I can’t believe it. Where did you come from? Are you alone?” Ryden exclaims.
The smile on her face quickly disappears and becomes serious nodding her head, “I’m alone for now, but the others will return again. Until the moon turns blood colored and the cries of the unborn are heard.”
