~10 years later~

On a beautiful day of spring with beautiful flowers in full bloom, a beautiful blonde girl was being hugged to death by her best friend Kate.

"I am going to miss you sooo much!", Kate said with a fake sob.

"It's only the weekend, Kate. Stop being so dramatic.", Luke said with an eye-roll getting tired of this weekly event.

"Alright, you guys. I really need to go. I will see you after two days.", Lily said smiling at her moron friends and with a last hug to Kate, she said to them jokingly, "Don't forget me, okay?"

"Already did" and "Never!" were the replies of Luke and Kate respectively. Rolling her eyes at them, she walked up to her mothers car and sat inside.

"Hi, mom."

"Hello, Lily! How was school?" asked Amelia smiling at her daughter.

"Fine."

"That's good. Did you make any new friends other than those two?", asked Amelia. The venom in her voice was obvious as she referred to Lily's friends.

"No"

"That's not good, Lily. You should really stop depending on those two. What are you going to do if they break your trust?"

"For the millionth time, mom, it won't happen. And if it did happen, I will make new friends then." Lily replied feeling annoyed. By now, it would be obvious to any person that the relationship between the mother and daughter wasn't on very good terms.

Lily was actually very obedient and respecting towards her mother. When her mom told her to not go outside without permission, she didn't go. When she asked for a phone in 8th grade and her mom didn't get her one, she didn't complain. When her mom told her to always wear her necklace without questioning, she complied.

But asking her to change her friends? The friends that have always been by her side since she was little. The friends that she really cared about and quite possibly had a crush on one of them. It just wasn't something that she could ever do. No matter how much her mother told her to, she was never going to do it. Amelia didn't get the hint though. She kept saying the same thing to Lily daily without even noticing the wall she was building between them.

Parking the car in the parking lot, they both walked inside. Lily went to her room while Amelia went to the kitchen.

This was the daily routine of Lily: Wake up, go to school, come back from school, laze around, do homework and then sleep. She didn't have a phone so she couldn't even talk to her friends. Most people her age hated school and preferred hell instead of tons of assignments and homework but for Lily, her school was the only place she could be happy and free.

She was very tired of her boring life. She wanted something different and exciting in her life but she also knew that the adventure filled tales from her childhood were nothing but a mere fantasy.

This was the boring reality.

Like every day, Lily did her homework, drew a bit and before she knew it, it was night time. Night time scared her a lot. To her, it felt like the darkness will stay forever and the sun won't rise again. Laying down in her bed, she wore her headphones and tried to zone out the voices of footsteps and crying that came out her room all night.

Lily walked inside her class wondering where her weekend went. She stayed up all night again because of the voices and came to school much earlier than usual.

"Morning Li- woah you look terrible" said Kate to Lily noticing the eyebags underneath her eyes.

"Yeah, uh I was just working on an assignment and didn't sleep" Lily lied and sat besides Luke who was looking at her in concern.

"We had an assignment!?", asked Kate who clearly had no idea about the assignment because she was too excited about the weekend to listen to what the teacher said.

"Yeah, we did. Copy mine and next time pay more attention", Luke said giving his notes to Kate who turned around and started copying them as fast as she can.

"So, what's up?", Luke asked turning to Lily.

"The sky", Lily said tiredly.

"First of all, it's the ceiling not the sky and secondly, you know that's not what I meant. The assignment wasn't even big that you had to stay up all night, so what was the reason? ...Was it the voices?", Luke asked being his usual smart-ass self.

"Shh, not so loud! I told you never to talk about it again. Do you want me to be the laughing-stock of the school!?", Lily asked glaring at Luke and then looking around the class to check if someone heard what he said.

"That did happen though. Remember when you fell in the cafeteria?", Luke said chuckling to himself as if remembering a fond memory. Upon noticing Lily's frown, he zipped his mouth and puts his hands up in surrender.

Luke was the only person besides Lily's mom who she told about the voices that came out of her room at night. She was never going to tell anyone but it just happened one day when she was crying and wasn't in control of her emotions. Luke was there to comfort her so she told him and to her utmost surprise, he didn't laugh at her. He just awkwardly hugged her and said, 'You are the strongest person I know of, Lily. So please don't cry.'

Lily smiled at the fond memory that she was going to cherish for the rest of her life.

"Earth to Lily", Kate said waving her hands in front of Lily's eyes. "You just wore a really creepy smile and your face was completely red!" Kate said worriedly and then placed her hand on Lily's forehead to check if she had a fever. Lily turned her head to find out that Luke had scooted his chair away clearly creeped out by her smile.

"Don't kill me please" Luke said.

'I really have that effect on people, don't I?', Lily asked herself. The rest of the day at school went by without anything worth mentioning other than Luke and Kate getting scolded and lectured by the teacher for their matching assignments.

Lily came back home at 2'o clock by bus. Her mom had told her earlier that she was going to come home late because she had lots of work to do. Lily changed her clothes and looked at herself in the mirror. Her gaze fell on the necklace that she had been wearing for as long as she could remember. Touching it, she wondered what was so important about it. Why did she have to wear it all the time? Why was she the only one that can hear those voices? What even were those voices? Maybe her life wasn't as normal as she thought. Sighing, she laid on her bed and hoped that all her questions will be answered one day.

Ami: That was a very long time-skip, Mei. What were we thinking?
Mei: Oh, it'll be fine. You worry too much!
Ami: /sighs/ There is an even bigger problem though. The pizza I made had five slices out of which, you got two and I got two. There is only one piece left.
Mei: That's not a problem because I get the last one! /picks it up/
Ami: No, it's mine! /tugs on the other end! Btw guys, this problem is going to go for a while so we are ending this chapter here. Don't forget to vote and comment, BYE!
