Sasha and Kellan sat in their little niche, in their own world for what could have been mere minutes to her mind. After an hour or so though they had finished their drinks and she had pushed the cake of her cupcake on him, forcing him to eat it or risk it being smushed in his face. They had talked and laughed and she had been at ease for the first time in years, a decade even.

As they made their way through the snow back towards the apartment complex, she paused.

"Do you mind?" she questioned pulling a pack of cigarettes out of her inner jacket pocket.

"You smoke?" he smiled brilliantly and rummaged in his pocket. "So do I." he pulled out a little metal case containing a few cigarettes and a mini lighter.

"No way." she giggled lighting one and stuffing the pack back in her pocket. "No one smokes here. It's the one bad habit I just can't give up."

"No one knows I do so you just keep that information to yourself little miss. I picked up when I was boarding full time and traveling all the time."

"Hmm so I guess you're not a good boy." she looked up at him, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Not even close." he caught her hand in his and tugged her towards him. She stumbled but laughed as she righted herself, looking up to see his face inches from hers. Her eyes fluttered shut as he stole a kiss. It was nothing too forward, just a brief brush of his frosty lips against her own. Taking a drag off her cigarette she pulled back a bit to see his face clearly.

"Terrible." she shook her head at him, trying to keep a straight face.

"Don't I know it." he grinned, keeping her hand in his as they continued the trek towards the complex. They arrived at the edge of the parking lot and Sasha leaned down to put her cigarette out, tucking it in an outside pocket to be disposed of later.

"This is where we part ways." She tugged her hand out of his.

"Don't I get your number? For arranging our next date of course." she seemed to contemplate his words heavily for a moment.

"We'll leave it to fate." She smiled briefly before turning and walking towards her building, leaving him staring after her bewilderment shown clearly on his face.

She made her way up the steps and into her apartment silently, tugging off her boots and coat as she walked in, making her way to the bathroom to change back into her pjs. She went to tug her belt off, reaching her hand around to the small of her back where her gun was tucked safely in its holster. She pulled the belt through, bring the holstered gun around to set it on the sink. Her specially engraved Glock 33, Glory. She tugged on her sleep shorts and camisole, leaving her clothes to be dealt with in the morning and climbed into bed, sliding her unholstered gun under her pillow. Slowly she drifted off into an uneasy and fitful sleep.

Sasha woke with a start, jerking upright, pushing her hair out of her face with one hand and sliding the other under her pillow for Glory. Flipping the safety off and pulling Glory out, Sasha scanned the room silently. 'Nothing.' She sighed softly laying back, staring at the ceiling for a moment before rolling out of bed and making her way towards the bathroom. Sitting Glory on the stand right outside of the shower, Sasha hopped in, letting the hot water pound the tension out of her shoulders and back.

After getting out of the shower and donning black skinny jeans, a lavender tank with a black cardigan over it and her favorite white and black snow boots, Sasha put Glory in her place and pulled her coat on. Jane had already left for church, but they would meet up for brunch at their usual place.

The trek took about 10 minutes, but it was a nice walk. The sun had come out and warmed up the town, thawing it slightly. Sasha smiled as she tipped her head back, drinking in the rays. As she entered the parking lot she spotted Jane's car and smiled glad she wouldn't have to wait. The door chimed as she walked in and she caught sight of Jane waving to her from a table in the sunroom in the back.

"Took you long enough." Jane smiled kissing her lightly on the cheek before sitting down. "You'll never believe the cute new waiter they've got working here. Speak of the devil..."

Sasha looked up and was surprised to see Kellan grinning down at her.

"This qualifies as fate does it not?" Kellan beamed at Sasha leaning down to close her mouth with a finger underneath her chin.
