Sasha ripped her hand away, turning and walking away, never looking back. She could feel her heart ripping apart. Something about this boy held her eye, her mind, her heart. She couldn't afford to have that kind of attachment to a boy she hardly knew. Especially not in this frozen state she never intended to come to. She could feel his eyes on her, but she never stopped, never slowed down, never even glanced back. Turning a corner, she took off, running the familiar path to her favorite park.
She climbed the jungle gym swiftly, her chest heaving, her lungs battling for air, her throat tight with tears.
She heard a twig snap behind her and held her breath, swinging around while drawing Glory, her breath caught in her throat as she watched Kellan slowly walk towards her.
"Walk away." Sasha whispered, breathing deeply, keeping Glory trained on him.
"You gonna shoot me?" Kellan looked at her skeptically.
"Don't give me a reason to Kellan."
"You're something else you know that?" He shook his head and choked out a bitter laugh. "Is this some kind of test? See how much crazy the guy can take?"
"Wh-what?" Sasha finally dropped her arm, flipping the safety back on. "You think this is...a game?"
"What am I supposed to think Sasha? Are you even from the ocean?" He was shouting now, waving his arms wildly about. She watched him warily, not yet sold he was an innocent.
"Of course I am. What a ridiculous question."
"I'm the ridiculous one am I? I'm not the one running about with people calling me princess and waving a gun around."
"If I explain, there's no going back. You never get your perfect little world back once you enter mine. Do you understand?"
"Sasha...whatever it is, it can't be that bad. Just tell me what's going on."
"It is." She looked away, studying the swings as they swayed in the wind. With a sigh, she holstered Glory. "Just...remember I tried to leave you out of this."
With that she sat cross-legged on the top of the jungle gym, waiting for him to join her. As he did, she huffed out a breath.
"I don't know where to start, so bear with me, this is a story I've played through in my head a million times but never told to anyone. It might be slow going." Kellan grabbed her hand, twining their fingers together as she looked at nothing. "Rosylyn. The girl Jane mentioned? That's who I was referring to when I said she was trying to replace someone else. Rosylyn and I are twins. Fraternal. There's definite...similarities but we're...separate. Our father kept me, our mother kept her. I didn't know about her, my whole life I thought of my siblings' mother, as my own. But she knew about me, sought me out, we became friends. Best friends. Our parents never said a word of it, for a long time we just were, eventually she told me, later revealing that she didn't want to ruin the completeness she felt with me. She was raised to use her looks to get everything she wanted...I think she's bitter about it sometimes. I was raised to be pretty and deadly. That's who I am. I've known since I was a child that my father treated me differently. Anything less than perfection simply wasn't tolerated, I was born and bred to be acceptable." Sasha squeezed Kellan's hand as a tear slid down her cheek. "As children do, we grew older, grew into our full potential I suppose, and suddenly...everything kind of made sense. Why we were separated, why our parents raised us they way they did. Jane's family works for mine. My mother was a mafia princess, my father worked for her father, for lack of a better word, as a hit man. Ros was raised to follow in our mother's footsteps, and I, in my father's. But something changed somewhere along the way. Our lives had become too twisted, weaved together as only Fate can manage."
"You haven't really explained anything Sash, and I'm having a hard time buying this."
"Are you going to listen? Or are you going to sit there and try to disprove what I'm saying?" Kellan studied her, searching her eyes for the lie, it wasn't there.
"Sorry. Continue." He replied gruffly, attempting at processing the information. "Okay...so Rosylyn..."

****Told you it'd be picking up. :) I know you're probably with Kellan right now, but hold out for the next chapter, Sasha's got a lot more to tell. Vote, comment. Xoxoxo Luxie****
